can anyone help me? One of my hens layed an egg that appeared to be all wrinkled on top, but the shell was hard. I wanted to take a picture and post it, but dd dropped it. Is this anything to worry about?
My hens lay eggs in this shape all the time. I think the shell is a little softer when laying (easier for them to pass it) and sometimes a dent or wrinkle occurs. I have had many in this condition and they have aways been useable, lol. I am very excited because I have a new hen that is laying double yolk eggs. They are large and have a rim around the entire egg.

We have 65 hens and get wrinkly eggs pretty often. I think they tend to look unusual more often when they are molting. After molting the shells always look much more uniform.
I am a homemaker and mom to three girls. We live on the corner of my families farm. We have 2 dogs, 11 cats, 48 hens and 3 roosters. I enjoy reading, sewing, gardening, scrapbooking, cooking and baking and spending time with my husband and girls.
