Journey To Me

My Journey to Become Myself

07:11, Tuesday, August 28, 2007 .. 4 comments .. Link

I have become someone that I don't like.  I have allowed people to lead me away from the path that I am meant to live.  I have suffered emotionally and physically and it has to stop.  This blog is going to chronicle my journey back to me becoming "myself".

My Goals:

To not live paycheck to paycheck.  I am going to do this by trying to live frugaly and save money where I can.  I do not intend to deny myself the common comforts I currently have, but I do intend to keep a watchful eye over what I spend.  There is always room to modify our spending and what we own.

I am going to attempt to get back my spirituality.  I am not sure how I am going to do this.  My past experience was in a Christian Church setting.  I know that I left this setting for a reason, I just don't remember what that reason was.  I may try meditation, or plain and simply praying to my God when I need encouragement, help, or simply when I am thankful for the blessings in my life.

I am going to have a better relationship with my Husband.  We have been married two years, lived together for seven years and we are at a turning point in our relationship.  He is currently out of work and it is taking a huge toll on our relationship.  I do not make enough money to support the both of us, so he is trying his hardest to find a job, but it is not going as well as planned.  I am not sure how I am going to try to make our relationship better, but I am betting that communication and honesty will have a large part of this.

Another goal that I have is to become as environmentally friendly as I possibly can.  One large obsticle is that I live 62 miles from where I work in a large Metropolitan area.  I live this far away because I could afford to buy a cheaper house (under $100,000) where a comprable house in the Metro would be $300,000.  I also am interested in alternative energy sources and learning about how we can reduce our footprint on the earth.  I have already began recycling, using environmentally friendly cleaning products and changing all my lightbulbs to the fluorescent kinds.  But there is still so much more we can do.  I would love to plant a garden next spring so that I can grow my own vegetables.  I would love to become a 100% of the time vegeatarian.  I already do not eat red meat and would not mind cutting meat out in its entirety.  My husband on the other hand is a textbook carnivore!  This is a large obstacle to work through together.

Hopefully, I will be able to keep up with blogging (as this is my first) and this will become a record of the changes I am making in my life to help me on my 'journey to me'.

The first step to change is setting the goals so you are on the road. We live 30 miles from where Dh works for the same reason, a 2600 sft home here with 3 acres is $52K versus 500K in town. You will find many living frugally here as a way of life and many of us are working on large debts towards debt freedom. Welcome! My name is Sweetie (Shanna) , I'm 43, a mom of 4 from 11 to 22 and my husband is in Kuwait currently. Blessings to you!

Welcome Amanda

I hope you will find, as I have, that this is a wonderful site for encouragement. I will pray for you and your husband, that your needs be met, and that he will find a good job quickly. If you get a chance, come visit me at 'a restful place'. God bless!

Welcome!

I'm new here too, and I know you will find everyone here so friendly. I'm a 100% vegetarian with a carnivorous family and plan to blog some of my meal-planning ideas about that issue in the future. Please visit my blog anytime.
