Crazy Bull

08:23 PM, Sunday, June 1, 2008 .. Posted in Farm Animals .. 3 comments .. Link

We have a 2 year old Beefalo Bull, who got his head stuck in the  the milking stall's boards. My hubby was sick in bed.  I went nuts, how am I going to get that big bull's head out of there by myself and not get kicked. He was twisting and turning trying to get out. Then he flop down on the ground with a loud snapping sound. I thought for sure he broke his neck, as he did not move for 1-2 minutes. Scared me to death, I ran to the house to get my hubby to help. He came running out, to find the bull unstucked and just looking at us. This was at this mornings milking. The bull did it again at pm milking, but got out fast. We have one dumb bull. Hubby is adding more boards in the morning. It's good the bull will be in freezer in two months, he driving me crazy.

It rained  here most of the day. Thank you Lord for watering the garden. I sewed some on my new project, homemade pads. I must save money, so I'm going to try them. Prayerfully I can stand them.

Dog, cat, Chicken Homemade food

I read the post on the Front Porch: Kristin Hoffman offers her help on making your own pet food!  under date Apr. 30,2008

We have been feeding our dogs, cats and chickens so called people food since last Sept.2007. This is when work ended. Someone gave us their Y2K stock 200 + cans, the size #10. All dried foods. We only could get enough money for cow feed because she's milking. So I started cooking the food up. The animals love it, I got a lot more eggs this past winter.  Our stock of #10 cans is about gone.  Last month, we had a little extra money, so I bought a bag of dog food. The dogs would not eat, this lasted three days- then I gave them home made food again.  All this took time to make - but I had time and no money.  I am still making food for them and their all do wonderful. Is this right or not? Who knows. But it's working for us. They also get my extra milk, old milk, buttermilk, eggs (Cooked), and food when I clean out the ice box. Right now they love cooked rice and milk.

Food for thought:What did dogs and cats eat before pet food was made?  And some canned pet food looks this beef stew, read  the label.

Hopefully this will help someone else.
