We have a small living room and this year Tommy has a exercise bike in the living room. He rides it twice a day, and it's to cold out side for him to ride it on the porch. And this summer Tommy made me a book case for all our books. The book case now stands were the tree would go. I have no place to move the book case. We only have a 4 foot tree, but there is no room for it. What do I do? This will be our first year without a tree. And with gifts being cut back this year, I really need to think of something. TommieLynn loves getting ready for Christmas, and after our long year with Tommy's health, I have to think of something. So I need your help, please, I need ideas. Tommy and I both have racked our brains and have come up empty. We want so much to make a great Christmas for TommieLynn. She knows gifts will be less and she's ok with that, but she really wants a tree. And we can't buy a smaller tree, so ideas please. I thought about just taking the tree top part, but have not figured out how to get it in a stand and put it on top of bookcase. The bookcase is only about 3 1/2 feeet tall.
I would love to just sleep through the hoildays, but TommieLynn needs them. I am just really tired this year. I need to make homemade ice cream. You see when we first got a milk cow, I started giving the kids homemade ice cream for breakfast on Christmas morning(it was a slim year for gifts, so my gift to them was breaksfast ice cream). And this has become a great hit, even now for the older kids. I am still working on homemade gifts for Christmas. TommieLynn is too. I am trying so hard to get into the spirit, but it's really hard this year. Not because of money but because I'm so tired. All I want for Christmas is some sleep.
Tommy is doing pretty good but he is having bad pain in his hip. And he is getting weaker. It's hard on him to walk from room to room with out getting worn out. I call him to the dinner table 10 mintues before it's done so as he can rest before he prays and eats. TommieLynn and I are fighting a head cold.
Well I better start my day. Thank you for any help you can give me.

So glad to see an update from you. Can you just put it on the floor in front of the bookcase? Being a small tree, you could scoot it over if you need something out of the bookcase in the next couple of weeks? I would have suggested putting it on top of the book case, but I am guessing your ceilings aren't tall enough for that? Just some thoughts.
We are praying for you still.

I'm sorry your tired and the holidays seem to make it worse a long with stress. I think breaking the tree a part is a great Idea..Could you break it down like two feet and set it on your dinning table..Maybe stick it in styrofoam then set it in a bowl put a towel around it. Well its a thought and it could serve at a table decoration as well..
Blessings Brenda

Can you put the tree in the kitchen? maybe another room? How about Tommylynns bedroom? What kid wouldn't love the tree to be in their bedroom?
Hugs,
Nikki

We managed to get a little tree in our 800sq. mobile with ten people living in it while we built our house. I suppose, where there's a will there's a way. I was really impressed when my Dad insisted we'd find a place for it. I guess he knew how much it meant to the little kids who were just old enough to start remembering Christmases. Now in our new house we have an open ceiling in our living room so he and the boys always look for monster trees to make up for the 2 little ones we had while living in the mobile. :-)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :-) Sending a bunch of Christmas spirit your way!!
Untraditional tree option...

One year we lived in a place where we could not fit one either, so we made a very large flat one to hang on the wall ~ We didn't have a lot of wall space, so my dd and I made a tree to hang on the wall. First we tried with construction paper with paper ornaments(which was really pretty and we hung in another spot), but we missed the "real tree" thing so we went out and gathered branches and tied them together with green yarn and made a flattish tree to hang on the wall. We were able to string lights, put a star on it (albeit crooked) and managed to hang our ornaments (not all, but all the special ones). It was pretty cool looking, wish I took pics, but we had just moved and I could not find the camera...

ok . . . I know this is gonna sound weird, but hear me out. When I was 12 years old my parents split up. My mom and I moved into a really small apartment and we didn't have room for a tree either. There was absolutely no Christmas spirit in our little family that year because of the situation with the dreaded divorce, but my mom decided we HAD to have a tree! We put it on our tiny little front porch. At first I was kind of embarassed about it, but then people that lived in the other apartments around us, mostly elderly, started telling us how glad they were to see it out there lit up every night. So maybe it wasn't the ideal situation, but it worked for us and it made other people happy too! Of course, our presents had to be kept inside, but at least we had a tree!!
