Our Desert Homestead

A typical day with a 3 year old

Some days I make a list of all the crazy things my 3 year old daughter does.  It either helps me feel sorry for myself or I can look back later and laugh.

todays list was more exciting than the past few weeks - I think she was bored and looking for action.

1.  permanent black sharpie on the wood door, table and wall.  Goof off only works on the wood door and table.  Now I need to repaint the wall.

2.  Took 2 eggs and smashed them together and then dropped the whole mess and ran.

3.  Dumped the dogs water - needed dry clothes after that and got stuff wet that was on the floor.

4.  Pulled out an entire roll or pack of dental floss - cinnamon flavored.  It was pretty all curled up on the floor.

5.  Stripped down naked and got in the tub - at 2 pm.  At least she knew she was dirty after smashing eggs.

The highlight of the day - no one peed on the floor.

I also am learning to quit saying she is a naughty girl and tell her how much I love her and praise her when she kisses me and says "Thanks Mom"!

We are all a work in progress!  Thank you Lord for our children.

Permanent Marker On Wall

Wait! Before you re-paint, try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (you can get them at Wal-Mart in the cleaning aisle). I have used them to get permanent marker off of EVERYTHING, including unfinished wood. They even work for painted walls. They are cheap, so try that first. Painting is a pain-it would be great if you don't have to.

They say that windex removes sharpie marks - carpet cleaner. I know that windex removes lipstick from carpet when nothing else worked.

Be Thankful for happy healthy kids. I know I have to be thankful for mine at times.

Last year the kids broke several eggs on the carpet while I was out cleaning up skunk spray. While cleaning things up my MIL came over and walked right through the skunk then into the house right into the egg.
I'll have to post the whole story one of these days.

When I was pregnant the second time, I said that if it was another boy, it needed to go live somewhere else! I said this because my son, about 18 months at that time, was starting to get active. I look back now and think that he was really calm then (compared to now). Anyway, I had a little girl and thought that I would be on easy street. Wrong! She is definitely giving my little boy a run for his money. They are now 5 and 3 and wearing me out totally! People say to me "How do you stay so thin?", and then they meet my kids LOL. They are workout enough for anyone, not really naughty just curious about everything.
