Our Desert Homestead

It has been a while

I have not blogged in a while, seems like we have been coming and going and not much exciting is happening on the homestead.  Just been trying to keep everything alive in the heat (the plants, that is).  It is finally cooling down at night but most days are still upper 90s.

Keep praying for my sister and her husband.  Seems that things are a little better but it is hard to get a straight story.  I am trying to encourage her to have hope and pray that he will see the huge mistake he is making.  They just have to turn to God for solutions.

Yesterday we spent the whole day in Northern Idaho at a huge amuzement park.  It is called Silverwood.  The kids earned free tickets for a reading program.  It was 3 hours from home and we saw 2 other homeschool families from our town.  I also saw a lady with a "Sonlight" backpack, which I also have since I used Sonlight homeschooling curriculum.  I actually went on the HUGE wooden roller coaster.  It was the most horrifying experience of my life in the past decade.  It was just terrifying.  I can't believe I did it - but never again.  I don't understand the thrill.  Plus today my neck is so sore.   My kids were a little freaked out since I screamed the entire time and kept screaming that I was going to die and praying very loudly to God.  I guess I just totally lost it.  Usually I am very restrained but not under those conditions apparantly.  The water rides and tilt-a-whirl were much more enjoyable.

So, tomorrow we are off to our annual Pastors and wives retreat at Cannon Beach, Oregon.  Home of the famous Haystack Rock on the Oregon coast.  Since my parents have moved to town, they get to watch all three kiddos at our house for 4 days.  So, I am cooking and cleaning and getting the laundry done so they can enjoy the time.  Plus, mom and Dad will be helping to homeschool while we are gone.  HEEHEE - can't wait for them to get a touch of life at our home.  Which, I would not trade but sometimes some empathy is welcomed.

alright - God bless everyone one of you as we remember 9/11 and pray you all will seek God's face as you raise your families.

Be back in a few days.

Enjoy your retreat...
I've just signed up to Sonlight for my daughter when we start homeschooling soon. It's nice to read about other families that use it. The amusement park sounds like a great day out. I had to smile as you wrote about your rollar coaster ride.
have a great day
Helen
