My husband and I spent last weekend at our states Christian homeschooling conference. Doug Phillips from the Vision Forum was the keynote speaker. Wow - he was awesome and totally shook our complacency. He nailed the dads. I could blog for an hour about the things he said. The things that struck me the most were the role of the dad and the honor that we need to give our parents and the industry coming from Hollywood. We mostly embrace our secular culture but we take a few stands that are different. I am getting bolder about taking a stand. I even feel I have to take a stand against most Christian families in our culture who have slowly slipped into the way of the world. My ds10has a big talk tonight about movies. He thinks there are some movies out right now that he needs to see that all his friends are seeing. For one thing, I doubt any of his friends are going to them. So, we got on Focus on the family website and read the reviews. Some of the things were not even appropriate for me to read the review to him. I could tell he was shocked and we had a big talk about how his dad and I are going to protect him from evil even if he thinks it is unneccesary. We will die trying to guard him from Satan. I pray God will protect his vulnerable heart from the ways of wicked!!
