We live on the dry side of Washington state. It has been raining a lot for around here. I am thankful though because things are growing well. Homestead project #1 - work on the pasture We need to get ride of the goatheads first, then plant some pasture seed and then fertilize. We also need to see the status of the irrigation system out there. Hope it works. Thankfully we have a friend who has the tractor and all the "stuff". I took my first trip to the feed store today and they were very helpful in getting me these initial items. Homestead project #2 - get the garden ready. We picked the area that I think will work the best. We need to borrow the tiller and then get some fencing materials to fence it in. Any ideas for something cheap? My friend and I already started our tomatoes. Actually, she is doing all the work so far. We will have tons of tomatoes come summer. Then, I have to decide what else to plant and when.
The next few weeks should be busy.
My friend and I are also working on dinner menu planning. We are trying out cooking for each others families. Our families are the same size and we like similar items. We live about 1 mile from each other. So, I cook Monday and make a double batch and take her 1/2. Then, the next night she cooks and brings us dinner, etc... thru the week. We are fine tuning and both trying to cook from scratch. Thanks for all our new friends at Homestead blogging where we are learning so much.
Need to get to bed. Tomorrow is field trip to the Pendleton Woolen Mill in Pendleton, Oregon. Should be fun!!!! Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 55 of 61 } { Next Page } |
