God loves a cheerful giver
Posted By GrandmaRosie in THE WORD

God loves a cheerful giver

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:6,7 NASB

Red Bull - WARNING
Posted By Song of Joy in Health and Nutrition

According to an article on Dr. Mercola's site, the energy drink Red Bull may cause a stroke in some susceptible people.   You are warned NOT to drink Red Bull if you:

  • Are pregnant or lactating
  • Are sensitive to caffeine
  • Suffer from anxiety
  • Suffer from high stress
  • Suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Have high blood pressure
  • Are predisposed to cardiovascular disease
  • Have any kind of blood clotting disorder

Apparently, the drink has so much caffeine in it that it causes blood to be sticky, which may cause cardiovascular problems such as strokes.   Just one hour after drinking a Red Bull, your blood system becomes abnormal,  such as a patient with cardiovascular problems.

I only touched on a few things, but you can read the entire article here:  http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/09/06/red-bull-can-give-you-a-stroke.aspx?source=nl

Blessings,

Carol

Pondering Palin
Posted By Kris in Points to Ponder

I was visiting over at here this morning and I was shocked at the number of "Palin Post' over here...I had no idea many were questioning as I am...BUT what I noticed was division among people....It shouldn't be that way...It made my heart sad, that so many cannot ponder their own thoughts or feeling with other "Christians" because they will be made to feel like 'freaks' or somehow unchristian if they disagree with a woman in office...One post even referred to people to think that the woman needs to home is a "know it all"....how very sad...Also one said those who 'question' Palin are for Obama...People just don't get it....Did any of us ever stop to think that this division is not of God?? That quite possibly Satan has jumped on the "Palin" bandwagon and is totally using this situation to divert our attention from what the real issue is?? and that is "What is best for our Country" weather it be McCain/Palin or the other the true heart of the matter is 'Who will uphold "YOUR" values, "YOUR" morals, "YOUR" liberities!! Period! If you do not feel either party will uphold "YOUR" values then you have a right to decide to not vote...that will NOT make you a bad "Christian" or a horrible "person" it just means you are exercising your God given freedoms...there may come a time when you cannot do that, you will not be given a choice...enjoy it now...We should ALL(including myself) pray about what we are to do..and after praying in earnest you are led to vote for Obama who I am to stand in your way? If you led to vote for McCain, Awesome! If you are led to not vote, so be it...its not my place to judge anyone...but I do have a right, just as you and everyone else in america has the right to his or her own opinion...and none of us have the right to attack the other just because our opinions differ...maybe, just maybe if we listen to the other side we might learn something! I am personally not a  fan of a woman being in the White House in a that position...before you gasp and choke on your coffe let me say this...I love the woman, she is kind, she is pro-life, she is sharp, BUT she has a family and in that family is a special needs child. As a mother of a special  needs child I personally know the amount of time it takes to raise a child like that...as much as we want things to be 'normal' they are not. I am sure she will make a great VP if elected along with McCain, however with that said...she needs to be home with her children...Example: Her baby is seriously ill, but she has peace talks with Iran...which gets neglected? The child or Iran peace talks? Kapish? Think about if McCain died in office Palin would be in line for the President, how will she balance home and office...I mean really, she will be running the U.S....our country is in perilous times we need someone who can be focused on this country...I don't know...its just silly the way this has become so divided...For those that are pondering Palin in office not being a good thing..I commend you for stating your opinion...Thank You...for those that think its ok...I have also read and considered your opinions...thank you...Who will I vote for...Certainly not Obama, but not sure for McCain either...Not voting does  NOT mean a vote for Obama....it means simply not voting! If you have comments you can either private message me here on blogger or you can use my email hs_fmly@msn.com I have chosen not to allow comments on this post.

Chocolate Cherry Oatmeal Cookies
Posted By GrandmaRosie in FROM THE KITCHEN
Chocolate Cherry Oatmeal Cookies
Moist and chewy, chocolate and cherries make these cookies sinfully
rich. Make the cookie dough ahead of time, freeze it and then bake
anytime for that fresh-out-of- the-oven taste

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp table salt
3/4 cup butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large egg(s)
2 1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/2 cup dried cherries

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, cinnamon,
nutmeg and salt together in a small bowl; set aside. Place room
temperature butter into bowl of a mixer and mix with a paddle
attachment until smooth, or beat with an electric mixer.

Slowly pour granulated sugar in an even stream into butter and mix on
high speed until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Pour in brown sugar, mix
until incorporated and then scrape mixture down from sides of bowl.

Slowly beat in each egg one at a time until incorporated. Slowly beat
in flour mixture until incorporated.

Scrape mixture down from sides of bowl and stir in oatmeal and then
dried cherries. (Note: Freeze dough at this point or continue to step
6 for baking.)

Scoop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto a nonstick sheet pan, a pan
lined with parchment paper or a silicon baking mat about 1 1/2 inches
apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are set. Cool
completely.

Either serve cookies or stack between sheets of waxed paper in an air-
tight container and freeze for up to two weeks before serving.

¼ teaspoon vitamin E oil

1 teaspoon dry, powdered ginger

1 teaspoon dry thyme leaves

1 to 2 drops lavender essential oil

1 to 2 drops eucalyptus essential oil

Mix together all ingredients. Pour mixture into a clean bottle with a tight-fitting lid and shake gently. Let mixture sit for a few days. To use, shake the bottle again, then pour a quarter-size amount into your clean hand. Massage onto your body, paying extra attention to sore areas.

Dry Elbow Home Remedies
Posted By GrandmaRosie in BEAUTY

Dry Elbow Home Remedies

Sugar Scrub:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 cup olive oil
Mix ingredients in a bowl. Massage the scrub into elbows, knees, ankles & any other dry spots. Wash off after 30 minutes.

Crisco (or any other lard)
Before bed rub Crisco into the dry elbow patches then slide on a pair of clean cut socks (to use as elbow protectors). Do this every night until dry patches disappear.

Lemon Salt Scrub
Squeeze the juice out of two quarter wedges of a lemon, add salt then scrub into your elbows gently, trying to sluff away the dead skin. Then take the lemon wedges and lean your elbows on them (one elbow on each). Rest like this for 10 minutes. Do this daily until the dark patches disappear.

Lemon Soft Scrub
Mix fresh lemon juice and baking soda to make a thick paste, apply to dry elbows. Gently rub in to exfoliate the skin and leave to sit for about 15 minutes. Wash off and apply a moisturizer or Vaseline.

Rehydrating Soak
Exfoliate elbows with a favorite scrub or loofah, then soak elbows in warm water for 10 minutes. Apply Vaseline. If you apply Vaseline to the dry areas right after a hot bath or shower, this will have the same effect.

Basic Maintenance Treatment: Exfoliate or scrub elbows daily then apply honey, Vaseline or a rich moisturizer to elbows. If using honey, leave on for 30 minutes before washing off.
Tip: Use a clean sock, cut off to have two open ends, and slide on over your elbows when applying moisturizing treatments to try to protect the moisturizer from rubbing off (especially good for overnight treatments). You could also wrap your elbows in plastic wrap.
If your elbow patches are thick and quite dark, this will take several regular treatments to clear up.

Ye are the sons of the living God ...Still desiring prayer for Velvet Rose
Posted By GrandmaRosie in THE WORD
Please continue to pray for my little Grand daughter, Velvet Rose. She is still in the hospital.

Ye are the sons of the living God

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Romans 8:16-18 NASB
