Crockpot Ranch House Chicken Fried Steak

Posted in Recipes

However this is not a chicken recipe... I'm not sure why it's called Chicken Fried Steak.  But, if you like spicy, then it's good!

1 T v
egetable oil
2 lbs round or simmering steak
2 onions, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 - 2 jalapeno peppers, finely chopped
1 t salt
1 t black pepper
1 t paprika
1/4 t cayenne pepper
1 t celery seeds
1/4 c flour
3/4 c condensed chicken broth
1/2 c whipping cream

Heat oil in a skillet over med-high.  Brown steak on both sides and transfer to crockpot.

Reduce heat to med-low.  Add onions and cook until softened.  Add garlic, jalapeno, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper and celery seeds.  Cook one more minute.   Sprinkle flour over mixture and cook, stirring, for 1 more minute.  Add chicken broth and cook, stirring, until thickened (sauce will be very thick).

Spoon sauce over meat in crockpot and cook on low for 8 - 10 hours or on high for 4 - 5 hours until meat is tender.  Add cream and cook on high for 15 minutes.  Serve with hot, fluffy mashed potatoes.

Serves 4 - 5.
