My Neighbors Husband

Hi everyone,  I'm still here...Just been busy.  Hubby found out that he will not have a job as of end of December.  My brother also told us he has to shut down his business at the same time because he can't pay his employees anymore.  He kept borrowing against his business to try and keep it open but as of now he cant anymore.  A lot of other companies still owe him money but they have already closed down. 

Dh's birthday is on Thanksgiving Day this year and we decided to visit his niece in Bradenton, Fl. and then visit our friends in Tampa where we use to live.  I really liked living there 15 years ago but not anymore.  Way to busy. 

We had the tropical storm the other day and only had about 1 inch of rain.  We;re glad the hurricanes stayed away this year.  I'll close for now.  Talk to ya soon.  Jeanne

Hi all.  Sorry I havent posted lately.  I was 2 months in a cast and now I'll be in a brace for 4 weeks.  I'm finally able to walk again but still sore and also going to therapy 3 times a week.

The other night I was removing my brace and when I tried to stand up I fainted and hit my head in the bathroom.  I also have black and blue marks on my arm and leg.  I tried to get up and fell again.  I've have been feeling dizzy and wasn't sure why this was happening.  I take medicine to help me sleep, but I've been taking that for a long time.  My husband took me to ER because my neck and forehead were swollen really bad.  They kept me for 6 hours to run tests.  Everything looks fine.  They also gave me IV while I was there also.  The doctor thinks it's the medicine and also because of sinuses. 

I took Dh early this morning to outpatient surgery  to have an Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy.
This procedure will disintegrates a kidney stone.  He was hurting and doctor decided to take an xray and found our he had one.  Doctor who performed the procedure told me it was about 5 milimeters.

Busy Day

I started wearing my brace on Sunday.  I use the cast at night since I'm not sure to it yet.  I had an appt.  with my Dr. today and he's sending me to therapy starting this Friday.  He told me to wear the brace for another month and then I should be just about back to normal.  I see him for the last time in 2 months.  I really can feel a difference when I walk.  :)  

 I went to a meeting and was happy to see everyone again.  The first one since the operation.  This coming Monday I have another meeting for our garden club.  I finished my newsletter but I didnt like how it looked.  I had to send it thru the internet to the president so she could run it off for 400 homes and for some reason it didnt download the right way.  Hopefully next month I will be able have it done by myself.  I guess I'm picky but I want everyone to appreciate all the work I put into it.  Just wish I could learn more.

Outside tonight I can see all the stars, not any clouds and it really looks pretty.   I also went to a meeting this morning and was glad to see everybody again.   

Surgery Results

HI all.  I'm really not sure if this surgery is really helping me.  My ankle is still in a lot of pain and swollen.   Just dont know if this is what I'm to expect at this time.  To me I didnt think so.  I called the nurse and waiting for her to call me back.  I was wearing the removable cast for 3 weeks now and two days ago the Doctor told me to wear the brace instead of the cast.  I'm back to applying ice and wearing the removable cast again.  Every morning when I wake up my skin where I had surgery is very warm.   Its been two months and I thought by now I should be able to walk.    I  just hope I can see better result soon.

Right now it's raining outside.  We're having a very slow moving thunderstorm and now we're under a flash flood watch,  expecting up to 2 inches of rain.

Four More Days

Four more days with this walking cast and then I wear a brace for a week.  Can't wait till I can walk naturally again.  I went to see Sherri today and I also saw my neighbor MaryLou and she will be a grandma today.  I'll have to call her tomrrow.  Her son and his wife are expecting a boy and his name will be Simon. 

This was my first day to drive since my operation and I had to drive in the rain.  It lasted for about an hour and a half.  Glad it wasnt a downpour.  Dh had to call today to have someone come over and fix our garage door.  While he was putting it down last nite the spring broke.  This cost is a little around 200.00 today.  At least it wasnt the door.  Their appx.  1000.00.

Friends

Hi all.  I went to meet my friends this morning.  First time since my operation.  I took the top of my quilt to show everyone.  Just wish I could get around better.  I see the Doctor September 8th.  Feels like a long time away to me.  I've just felt awful tired lately.  I have worked in my garden and did pull a lot of weeds, but I have a ways to go yet. 

Hubby found out he has a kidney stone.  Today he had to see a specialist and thats where he at now.  Tonight we meet my brother and his wife and go out to eat.  We're thinking about going to Logans.  (I call it the Peanut PLace. LOL)

I called mom in Pa and for almost 81 years old she's fine and I called my sister there too.  Think I'll go and lay down for awhile.  I'll be back later to read some blogs.  Talk to ya all later.  Jeanne

Another Day At Home

HI all,  Just wanted to keep ya updated.  Tuesday I had that hard cast removed.  Hurrah.  Now I have a removable walking cast.  Doc told me I need to wear it for 3 weeks and then I have to wear a brace for one week and I will see him again.  He likes the improvement.  I have lost a lot of muscle and my skin is so dry and flakey now.  I also took the wheel chair back and all I use now is the walker since I can try and use my foot again. 

Today Dh and I were cleaning out our garage and I transplanted some of my plants.  Thats a big improvement out there.  We surely have ALOT of rain coming this way and later in the week possible two tropical storms.   Bill looks pretty big but Ana looks small.  Not sure if they are heading our way yet. It feels pretty good outside right now.  Not as hot as the last couple of days. 

Our dear from Mena called from Tampa, Fla.   We met her when we use to live there.  Sure miss my other friends too.  Hopefully we will be able to visit her in the future when I'm able to take trips again and expecially walk normal.  That is one big city compared to the size it use to be and busy too.  I'll talk to ya all soon.  Have a blessed day.  Jeanne

I'm back to Quilting

Hi Everyone.  Yesterday I received a card from my quilting friends here in town since I had surgery.  They were all at our meeting and everyone signed the card for me.  We meet once a month and I wasn't able to go since June.  The swollen has gone down a lot and now I'm able to sew again...  Finally!!!  :)  I"m trying to work on three different quilts.  The front is finished on one of these and I'm now making the backing for it.  The other two I'm working on the front. 

Thought we would have some rain today but its passing over us.  Maybe later, hopefully.  All we heard was the thunder.  I went to check all my plants that I placed outside before surgery and they're all fine.  :)  Think I'll go outside and do some more weeding since I'm way behind.  Talk to ya all later...Jeanne

Hi

I just wanted to stop and say HI.  Dh is back to work...It seems so quiet when he's gone...Lately I havent been able to sleep very much except last night.Finally!!!  We did have some rain last two days.That helped out a lot.

Agnes and I drove around our neighborhood to pick the Yard of the Month for August.  I will have to start the newsletter and have it published by the beginning of September.  I can't believe this year seems to be flying by.  My brother Chuck had his birthday and we went out to eat with him and his wife, Moon the other night. 

I have 10 more days with my cast and the swelling is a lot better.  I'm able to do a lot more exercising.  I'll close for now so I can read some blogs.  Hope everyone has a blessed night.  Jeanne

WheelChair

I went out back today to water some plants and I can see the weeds and beleive me thats hard to pick when your on a wheel chair...I tried...I also went out front and watered too and a few of my neighbors were walking around our neighborhood.  I can't wait till I can do that again...One of my neighbors walks his dog and he couldnt wait to come up to me...I see him everytime I'm out front...He use to be a good friend of my dog, Misty too... 

Dh and I took down our fish tank today...We decided to buy some water falls for our Florida room...I love to hear the sound of water and I wouldnt have to clean that as often...I gave my one and only fish to my neighbor...It was probably lonely anyway and I know they have quite a few fish.  Wish I was able to have my pond again.  I really like to raise koi and love their color and we did raise gold fish too...A few bad things about the pond was the water snake we found and the birds eating our fish...

We really need the rain here in NW Florida...It seems to disappear everytime its headed this way...Can anybody send us some???  LOL  I close for now...Hope everyone has a blessed nite...Cya soon...Jeanne

Last Night Home Alone

Hi all....I wasn't able to go with Dh to KY.  My ankle has been hurting a lot....He decided to drive back there himself...He left Tuesday morning... and at 6 pm that evening and told me she wasn't looking good at all.  Early Friday morning she went to be with our Lord.  I thought she was 80 August is her birthday and she would be 79.  A couple days ago hubby passed out in the hospital...His sugar was around 200.  He forgot to take his insulin shots with him...Yesterday his other sister was visiting in the hospital also her blood pressure went up...A nurse tend to her right away...Her viewing will be today and her funeral on Saturday...Dh will start back home Sunday...He now has two sisters left in his family....One has heart problems and the other has  Alzheimer's...Right now he's starting to feel lonely.  I'm so glad he has a niece who cares for him a lot...She lives south of Tampa...

I went to see the Doctor today and now I have a hard cast up to my knee...He did say I can start putting some weight on it tomorrow or when i feel comfortable.   I go back in 3 weeks to have it removed.  I'll close for now...Talk to ya all soon...Jeanne 

Leaving for Kentucky

Hi everyone.  Well tomorrow we leave for Kentucky.  Dh's sister is ready to be with our Lord in heaven.  She had a heart attack and the doctors told everyone she will not be able to make it now.  She did have a good life with her family.  She almost was the same age of her father when he passed away.  I'm not sure how long we will be there.  I have to call my Doctor tomorrow and change my appointment for Wednesday,  and this is my followup from my surgery.  Our bags are finally packed.  That takes awhile when your in a wheel chair. 

We also had some rain and that will help out a lot.  All of my plants are now under our trees.  Just hope they make it there.  Its 70 degress here in NW Florida tonite.  Very unusual for this time of season.  I just checked the weather in Kentucky and its 68 there. 

I made two more stars for my quilt today.  First time i have sewn for 3 weeks.  Its hard to cut the material since I can only stand on one foot.  I also need to order more fabric on the internet when we're back home again.  I'll close for now.  I'm not sure when we'll be back home again.   Talk to ya all later.  Nite nite Jeanne

Wheel chair

Hi everyone.  Dh and I went to pick up a wheel chair.  It will cost us $50.00 a month.  I know I wont have it that long but we were lucky, I received the last one and we have 3 different areas here that rent them.  I was at the counter when this other person called to see if any were available and he/she already called the other 2 stores.  They have a lot there for sale though.  I didnt even try to find out the price.  Hubby made a ramp for me so I can go out to our garage easier.   I woke up this morning and three of my toes are black and blue.  I'm not sure why this happened but I'm still swollen and can move my toes so i'm pretty sure everything should be ok.  I'll call tomorrow if the pain seems to be any worse then tonite.  At least now I can try and get some cleaning done in our home.  I really didnt care setting around and watching tv all day but the walker surely was hurting my hands.  I even made homemade padding but that doesnt help very long.

Our mama and papa doves and her 2 babies and are already gone.  Hubby went to check the nest today.  They were there last week.  Now its up for rent again.  lol

Today we had rain three different times.  We do need it though.  The last two were downpours and lots of lightning.  I should have looked outside to see if their were any rainbows but didnt think about it till i read any blog today.  I'll close for now.  Hope everyone has a blessed night. Hubbys Home

Hi all.  Dh is back home again but sadly he received a speeding ticket in Alabama as soon as he left highway 65.  He also told me his sister is looking a lot better and sadly she had tears in her eyes knowing he had to leave.  The Doctor has more hopes for her also then he did a few days ago.  I thank God and for your prayers also. 

We're calling my Dr. to see if I can have a wheel chair so I can go outside and enjoy the sun. Ten to fifteen minutes of sun exposure at least two times per week to the face, arms, hands, or back without sunscreen is usually sufficient to provide adequate vitamin D.   It is very important for individuals with limited sun exposure to include good sources of vitamin D in their diet.  Sun exposure is perhaps the most important source of vitamin D because exposure to sunlight provides most humans with their vitamin D requirement. UV rays from the sun trigger vitamin D synthesis in skin. Season, geographic latitude, time of day, cloud cover, smog, and sunscreen affect UV ray exposure and vitamin D synthesis.  Sunscreens with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 8 or greater will block UV rays that produce vitamin D, but it is still important to routinely use sunscreen to help prevent skin cancer and other negative consequences of excessive sun exposure.

Hi everyone.  I truely wanted to thank you for your compliments for my sister and myself.  I talked to dh today and asked him to please come home Saturday.  My wrists and hands hurt so bad.  His family lives approximately 10 hour drive from our home but I told him not to leave if he's too tired to drive and he sounded like he was tonight.  We are going to rent a wheel chair to help me out, especially getting to one side of the house to the other.  I sure hope this works out a lot better.  

He talked to his sisters neurologist today and he will have surgery on her appx. a month from now, depending if she improves in her health.  He will continue to watch her blood flow so she wont have any more strokes.  Just wish I was able to go and visit but there was no way I could get around.  My ankle feels like pins and needles all the time.  Hopefully a week from now i'll feel so much better. 

I was so thankful that my brother brought me over some more Thai Food, that his wife prepared for all 3 of us.  We had chicken with broccoli over rice.  She is really a very good cook.  When he was stationed in England somebody over there asked her too cook her food 2 days a week for him.  I never knew the name of the restaurtant or if this was prepared on a military base.  I'll talk to ya all soon.  Thanks again.  Jeanne

Hubbys Sister

Dh's sister had another stroke.  He went to be with her Wednesday.  As of now I'm home alone and trying my best to get around her home with a walker.  I have a few neighbors coming over to help me and my brother stopped by today and brought me his dear wife's home cooked Thailand food.  That was sooooooooo goood.  Chicken and caultiflower over rice.  She also made me some egg rolls.  He took out my garbage today to our sidewalk.  That helps a lot. 

His sister has bleeding in her brain right now.  Before they knew this was happened they automatically put her on a blood thinner because of the stroke and now they have to operate on her.  I told him there is no way they can do that.  He said they have to take her off the blood thinner now and tomorrow they will find out about the operation.  She is now 80 years old and not in good health at all.  I seriously dont think she could make it having this operation.  Please pray for her.  This is the third time she had a stroke in 5 years.  The last two were within a month a part.  She had her eyes opened today and looked like she was trying to talk,  a lot better than yesterday.
