Monday, March 5, 2007 - My 2nd Midwife Appt.

I had my 2nd mw appt. last week, and I haven't had time to post about it, then I forgot!
So, we got ready to go, and wouldn't you know it... Isaac fell in the mud on his way to van! It took about 10m or so to change him and get him ready to go, so we were running late, of course. Jocelyn, Rachel and Eric were staying home, because we weren' sure if Chloe was going to go into labor or not.
After calling the mw, L, and letting her know we were running late, I looked at the gas gauge and, of course, it's on the red line at EMPTY. Un-huh, go figure! I had already started driving to the highway, instead of through town, so we stopped and I had Amanda pour the gas from the handy-dandy gas can in the back of the van into the van. Ok, here we go to the gas station. Got gas, something to drink and we were on our way for our 1H drive.
We made it there safely and Isaac3 and Caleb 22m had fallen asleep. I was glad, b/c I am sure Isaac was going to be hungry, and it would go quicker if I went in and they stayed in the van. Amanda stayed with them, and I took Hannah in with me. What a treat for her!
My bp was low, of course... something like 115/50. She asked me about my thyroid, which I have never had trouble with - to my knowledge. I did tell her that my Mom just got treatment for her thyroid and is feeling healthier than ever and has lost quite a bit of weight. Um, I already knew my weight - *no, I am not posting it here*!! ( ;  She measured me and put my mind to rest after last time. She had said that I was small for what my due date was supposed to be last time. This time, I was right on. Good.
We only had about 20 min. before her next appt. came. She felt bad, because I drove so far, but it was really ok. I got to know her a bit better, and I was glad for that.
Amanda drove home. She is doing very good. I would rather just drive myself, you know... but I love sharing this experience with her. It has been a good thing for me. I hope it has been for her!!
My next mw appt. is a home visit. She will be coming next Friday. My frmr. mw, R, was going to try to come, but I don't think she can come then. L is going to be gone for about a week+ around my due date, and she has another mw to cover, but I think she is going to let R be her back-up for me. I think she is going to leave it up to me. I think it would be great! I already know R and feel comfortable with her. She is only 20m away, instead of an hour, and I am glad for that. We'll see how it goes. I do feel comfortable with L now, though, since seeing her twice and speaking with her on the phone a couple of times.
After all the trouble with the goat's kidding, I am looking forward to a blessed, calm and wonderful birthing experience!!!
Here's a funny - L told me that when she called the other day and I couldn't talk, she said she has never called a client and not been able to talk to her because *she was busy with a birth*. She thought it was funny. Me too.
Here's another: I got a comment from Lindafay on hsb1:

I'm trying to picture in this mind a pregnant mama trying to pull a goat out of its mama. :- ) (I read Jocelyn's post)
I hope you are feeling well. Only a little longer to go. You must be very ready.
Blessings,
lindafay
Cute! I thought several times while I was down there in the barn, with both does, birthing,  holding,  etc. about my big belly that kept getting in the way! What a picture.  She's *very* funny!

Well, be blessed!

I am so jealous! I loved being pregnant and I am for some reason excitedly waiting for you to have yours. I've been considering a thyroid evaluation as I know that can cause fertility problems... but haven't called the doctor as of yet. I hate going to doctors and even if I just want a simple blood test, dh says... you KNOW they are going to want to do all the other crap as well. UGH.... I hate being poked and prodded! Well, rest up! Enjoy the last bit of pregnancy!

About Me

Walking Therein is a blog dedicated to journaling our family times, encouraging Biblical living, presenting what we have learned in 15 years of home schooling, and occasionally sidetracking on news-related stories or politics. We are looking for Yeshua, our Messiah to return soon, and are devoted to the One True God, which you will see reflected on each page. I am a forgiven & restored daughter of the One True God, a happy stay-at-home wife, and home schooling Momma to eight beautiful children. Our home school is Living Learning Moments, meaning we learn as life happens. We live on a 2 1/2 acres little farm in IN, and we love our homestead, raise goats and chickens, and keep our home. We also enjoy managing several websites and writing articles for the glory of God as we train up our children for him.
