They can learn so many things from cooking with you.
- 5dd, Hannah is 6 years old. She and I cooked scrambled eggs today.
- I had her count out 7 eggs.
- She counted them out and then she rinsed out the egg shells and put them into the compost bin.
- I had her put away the rest of the eggs and check the counters befroe we turned on the stove.
- Then, I gave her the spatula and let her at it.
- The important result was not that she could count out 7 eggs.
- The important thing she learned was the application of making eggs, cleaning up her mess, and then serving the eggs to her little brother and Mom.
- She was proud of herself that she made eggs.
- She wants to do it all the time now.
- I can't wait until she can plan and cook meals like her older sisters, but don't want her to grow up so fast, either... what a joy to watch them grow and learn!
As Moms, it is important to teach our children responsibility so they will become responsible adults; so they can help train the younger ones; and so that we ourselves can learn the patience and joy in teaching our children the things the LORD wants them to learn.
