I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree, And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made: Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee, And live alone in the bee-loud glade. And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet's wings. I will arise and go now, for always night and day I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep heart's core. >/h3>

who's afraid of the BIG BAD WOLF?

Last night my husband was outside walking our dog and lo and behold a  wold confronted them. Yes a wolf. It lunged and snarled at my husband and the dog. It was HUGE. I am a mn farmgirl so my husband called me out where the animal was trapped in the backyard to identify it and I took one look and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. It's A Wolf! I said and I high-tailed it back in the house. My worry is does it have rabies? It was also on our steps sniffing and looking in the windows. We were able to get a couple blurry pics and so we sent them off to Fish and Game and they said oh it's just a coyote. No it is not! It is as big as a German Shephard and has huge feet and is broad and has light fur. I know a coyote. They have big ears and are rather skinny and are about 25-35 lbs. Or somewhere in that size. This animal was TRIPLE that. So now we have a problem animal and of course fish and game doesn't care. So what's your opinion.. Is it a coyote or a wolf?

THAT is a wolf if I ever saw one! May possibly be part dog, like malamute, but not by much. That is either full wolf or very high percentage...perhaps it escaped a breeder and is looking for food from humans, yet not tame enough to be friendly. Still, you're smart to not rule out rabies!!

I'd say a wolf! Or maybe a coydog, but it looks to big and full bodied to be just a coyote to me.
Have you seen him around since then?

Time to keep the rifle near by! Even more so if you think it may have rabies!
My DH'd former boss had 3 wolfs up on their porch year before last, in Fairbanks-North Pole area. ~Anna~
