Wednesday Morning here.............

and I have been handed a challenge. Yesterday was payday, not another one till the end of the month. That is 15 days from now. And here is what I have to work with ................( I just love being able to be challenged like this. ) It really makes you look to God. Sometimes I don't always look to God. Sometimes I think we get to comfortable and things are coming to easy, and we tend to forget to ask God for all things. Even our material needs.
So, okay, here it is..........I usually get $300 a payday for my household budget money. It is for groceries, paper products, cleaning supplies, dog food, personal products.....etc....
Okay, I knew coming into this pay day, that I might only get $200 because we had a pretty big time with the holidays and I was prepared for this. Then I wrote the post below about how I still had a week's worth of menu items for this period and I was doing pretty good. I was even thinking about what I might do with the extra money that I might have left over.
Then, life happens ..........yesterday one of our dogs has a major problem, he got a bone stuck in his mouth ( his tooth was stuck in the center of the bone), an infection had already sit in and he required medication to take of that. There went $100 !!!!!!!!!
So, here I am, things are a little tight for the next 15 days. I am not complaining, the bills are paid, and everything is taken care of. I am thankful. But, I only have $100 for the next 15 days and NO Safety Net to fall back on. I LOVE IT !!!!! It has been too long since I really had to pinch pennies and plan for the days.
Now don't get me wrong. We have been there before when we had no idea where the next day's meals were coming from, but we knew God knew. But for the past good while, my husband has been blessed with pay raisies and such and I think we got just a little too comfortable around here.
I like it when we are "pushed" to trust God. We are only "pushed" because we are the ones who were not going to Him with everything. I mean, we were thankful that we did all of the holidays with nothing but CASH ...... It was the first time in our 21 years of being married, that we did only cash. We had a great Christmas and were able to do and buy whatever we had planned to buy. We did not over do it. We just did it with cash. That is why we knew we would be running it close for a month or two now.
So, okay, back to my challenge. I have a menu made out from now till the 24th. I will still need to buy milk and such during this time but suppers are covered. We always have something around here for breakfast and lunch. I might need to buy a couple of things for these two meals.
But I will need to plan for the last few days of the month. I will have 6 more supper's to plan for and one of them, we are scheduled to have over a member of our church family. It is only one person for this special dinner but I would like to do something nice for them.
So, I will be thinking about this and spending my money wisely. I am blessed that I have what I have in the freezer. I could be looking at a whole lot more being needed for the month. I still have to check on my cleaning products and see what we will need till the end of the month. We have to wash our clothes, no matter what. We are not a family with a lot of clothes in our closets, lol .
So be watching here, as I post about how I am doing for the rest of the month. And really, I am so thankful that the Lord has allowed this to happen, so that I can be reminded of how I should always be trusting Him with everything, even my running the home as I should. I really have gotten too comfortable and taking things for granted.

I can't wait to see how you do it. It will be a good learning experience for all of us. I went to WalMart yesterday for groceries, paper items, and personals and the bill was $166.00. I was amazed, that was without buying any meat other than 1 chicken and lunchmeat. Either things are going up or I am getting less frugal. I need to revamp my menu's, as well.
Blessings,
Trixi

I love how God works such greatness through so little. Along the same lines as yours, I am given $90 per week for groceries, dog food, any clothing the growing children may need, cleaning supplies, school supplies, etc. Times were tough last summer and all hubby could give me was $30 for that week. I was so excited because just the night before I had read an article on how to feed a family of seven (I only have five) for the week on, can you imagine, only $30! And it worked! I'll post the article on my blog. It's a great one to have around it times of need, or if you are wanting to same some extra cash. You post was a joy to my heart!

First let me applaud your attitude towards this issue. It's not often you find someone ready and willing to face these bumps in the road. I have lived check to check most of my adult married life and just this past year was finding it very very easy to do so. Over the holidays I did spend more than I should have, but reality is slapping me in the face once again. I pray that I am able to face it with grace as you are doing.....keep us posted, I'm intrigued, lol.......Kitty
