Starting the New Year off right......
Anyone that knows me, knows I love to have people over and FEED them !!! There is just nothing better then fellwoshipping with your friends. ( I am just joking about the feeding thing, lol !) .
So this evening, we are having about 20 ( including my famiy) over for a big Bar-B-Q meal. We have had this smoked shoulder in the freezer just waiting for the right time to heat it up and today is it !!!
So on the menu today will be:
Bar-B-Q sandwiches
Baked Beans
Slaw
Chips
Black Eye Peas
(For those who like tradition)
Home-made Blueberry cobbler
Home-made Brownies
Ice Cream
Now, besides the black eye peas, you can't get anything better for a "new year" break from the holiday meals. I wanted to fix something that nobody had eated during the past two months. I believe that I have done just that.
As always, if any of you are in the area, please stop by, there is always a seat here for you at my dinner table !!
Have a great day with your family and friends !!!

I too like to feed people. Your meal sounds very good! Tonight my son and his wife and my grandbaby are coming over and I'm fixing a big pasta dish, french bread and salad. I'm about to go post the recipe. Come see.

I love to entertain as well, but everyone had other plans for New Years. The menu sounds wonderful and the friendship and gathering sounds even better.
God's Blessings,

2008-Jan-5 - soy sauce replacement recipe
Posted by mommaofmany
I found this recipe for a soy sauce replacement, but since I haven't tried it, i can't vouch for the taste! Have you tried Bragg's Liquid Aminos? It subs for soy, but tastes different. Not bad, just different!
Ingredients:
* 2 tablespoons reduced sodium beef broth
* 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
* 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
* 2 teaspoons molasses
* 1 teaspoon sesame oil
* 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
* black pepper to taste
* 1/4 cup boiling water
Preparation:
1. Combine all the ingredients. At this point, you can either a) use the sauce as is, leaving for an hour to give the flavors a chance to blend, or b) for a thicker, richer sauce, boil the liquid until it is reduced by half, about 3 tablespoons. 2. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Use the sauce within 3 - 4 days.
Hope that helps you...please let me know!
