To tell you a little about me, I will start here:
I am 43 (almost 44), married going on 21 years and have 3 daughters. My oldest, ELizabeth,18, is a freshman in college. Sarah is 13, in the 8th gr and Rebekah is almost 9, in the 4th gr. We have been homeschooling now for 10 years. My husband Jeff is at the same job he has had since high school, working at the State College, in town. My daughter is also attending college there.
My husband and I were both raised in church and while not knowing each other during childhood, we both thought we had a salvation experience at an early age, But by the Grace of God, we heard God calling us, drawing us to Him, 10 years ago and we both were saved by His Grace ( at different times). The Lord and His things come first in our lives. We are very tied in to the church where He has placed us. My husband is the head of our home, and though we have our mistakes, we follow the Word of God in how our home is kept and ran.
I have a college degree and worked the first 10 years of being married. Then God called me home to raise our daughters, (2 at that time). It was such freedom and liberty to be able to take care of my home and family the way it should be. I have never looked back. We then decided to homeschool, first because of my health but then, because we saw it was the best thing for our daughters.
I have had to learn how to run my home through the trials of my health and now that things are good for me, I love to be able to encourage others that no matter what the trial, or road block, with the Grace of God, you can get through the day. You can keep your house in some type of order, and you can always love your God and family, no matter what is going on.
I have had to make things work through the "slim" times and keep it on track during the "bountiful" times. I have learned how to host other families over for fellowship dinner, even on the tightest of budget. I have had to get through Christmas without leaving anyone off the list that I need to buy for or make a gift for, It is never how fancy or the cost that matters, it the love that you put in to it that they will remember.
I have been learning about godly hospitality, and how important it can be to others that you invite them into your home for fellowship. There were times that I had a ply-wood kitchen floor, but still had others over for dinner. They didn't care, they just knew that we loved them. I have had to ask my guest if they could help out and bring a dish for the meal, they didn't care, they were just happy to be asked over.
So, basically, through all of this, I am trying to say, I have been through a lot of rough times, I have been through a lot of good times, but through it all, I have always known that God is a loving God, and no matter how much or how little we have, we can always love God, love others, and show hospitality . I enjoy sharing with others, ideas for the home, recipes to try and I am always looking for times for me to learn from others also. I do not claim to know everything about being a godly wife and mother, but I claim to stick by you, while we walk this road through our lives at this time. I, too, am in need of encouragement and fellowship with like minded ladies who want to follow the Word of God in being a Keeper of the Home.
If you did not know me before this morning, now you know a little about me. Thank you for reading and please, let me know if you write about yourself on your blog, so that I can stop by and learn about you.
Have a good day and remember to Thank God for something today !!
It's nice getting to know you. I'd love to hear how to feed a gathering of people like you talk about without going broke. Our ladies at church meet once a month for a fellowship meal and we take turns fixing the meals, working in teams of three.
What a great opportunity to know more about you Pat! I really enjoyed reading this post. I also am so glad you added your encouragement at the end. I needed that :-)
Lots of love,
Sommer
