How many of you use a Homekeeper Notebook......

Posted in Inside My Home

You can buy one over at Marmee's Kitchen, which I have done before or if you need to., make one yourself. I prefer the one at Marmee's because she also includes verses and quotes to go throughout the year.

Anyway, do many of you use a "notebook" to keep you on track? What kind of things do you keep in yours? I try to have a calendar of a "month at a glance" to see the whole big picture at once, a page for my husband for what bills need paid when and any extra's that we might need for that month. Menu ideas put together weekly and 4 weeks all together.  That way I pick a weekly menu and gather my items for the week and plan accordingly.  It makes shopping so much easier.  I have food list for that one week and first I go through my kitchen and check off what I already have. Then go to the store and buy whatever may be left to get.  I also am able to pick menus this way going by our budget, I check to see what we already have and try to get by with as little shopping as needed.

I also have a list made up of our favorite meals and the items needed to make them.  This also helps when things are tight and a need to shop on a "shoe-string" kind of things. I try to keep a inventory list of what is in my kitchen and pantry at all times for anything that comes up.

My husband likes the budget/bill pages because at night he can take a quick look and see what we need and when.  I try to help him any way that I can and this seems to be a big help. On this page I also leave hime notes as to if the girls need clothing allowance or not that month or if they need extra money for an outing or something.  That way, my husband can plan ahead on the budget as needed.

Let's talk about what helps us to help our husbands around our house. Do you have a way of staying organized and on top of things? Let us know what you do and maybe we can put your ways into our day to help out.

Much love and blessings

2006-Jan-9 - Homekeepers notebook

I do use one, sort of. I print out the sheets I like from different websites, mostly www.donnayoung.org then I put them in a three ring binder and I make some of my own stuff like calendars, schedules, memory verses, books to read, etc. using Word. My binder has just about everything I need for school including lesson plans. However I am really crummy about being organized in everything else. It makes me feel too trapped. My husband wouldn't look at it anyway, so keeping my bills in it would just frustrate him (he would never be able to find them!).
