93 As a 1930s wife, I am Very Superior Take the test!

There is just so much I want to get done. I have got to plan ahead and stay on track. I never know when I will have a good week or a bad week with my health so after a bad one, I try to get as much done as I can.

I am wanting to start a small inside herb garden of a few things I use the most. I have no idea where to start or is it as easy as it sounds.  Do I just buy some seeds and plant in little pots and wait for them to grow? Is there a special way I need to plant them, is there a special kind of seeds I need to buy? Can I just put them in small flower pots and what kind of soil do I use?

If anybody out there has any helpful hints, please let me know. I have put off doing this long enough, I really want to get started on this project.

If you can get cuttings of thyme and rosemary from a frined's plant, I just leave those in cups full of water till they develop nice root systems, then plant them in small pots. (I wouldn't grow them from seed though, takes too long). Parsley and Basil will come up from seed nicely though, and chives are also worth a try. I'd put them in medium size pots - not super tiny ones, and just make sure they have plenty of sun. Most herbs don't like a super rich soil, but plain old potting soil (or dirt from the backyard assuming it's not frozen solid :) should work fine.
