Yesterday We had Funeral Services for my Father in law
My father in law passed away Tuesday morning . We knew it was coming but we didn't really know just how soon. I am thankful that he was able to come home for his last days. That was what he wanted.
It is never easy to come through something like this, and really hard on my girls but then for it to be at a holiday time, makes it just a bit harder. But God is good and His grace is on us . We are all doing good. My husband is really doing good. he is thankful for this past year that he had to take care of his father.
Things will not be the same around here and I will miss the many dinners with my father in law. He always was so thankful for whatever I would cook. His last month or so I made him cornbread anytime that he wanted it. I will always remember him when I make a pan of cornbread and I will make sure that my girls know how to make cornbread when they get married. You never know when you might need it.
My husband now has lost both his parents and I still have both of my mine. He has 4 brothers that live close by and a handful of aunt and uncles from his father's side of the family that aren't too far away. I will make sure we take time during the year for visits to stay close with them. Family is everything, no matter what.
Last week went by as a blur but tomorrow I plan to get up and move forward with our holiday things. Everyone wants to jump back in and get busy with the baking, shopping and fellowshipping with family and friends.
The future is unknown but I am thankful for today and look forward for each tomorrow.
God bless everyone and doubly for those who has lost someone at this time.

Just How Busy Can I Get, lol...

My week end is going to be a busy one. Starting with today, I need to bake 2 or 3 pumpkin pies, a pan of brownies and "make ahead" mashed potatoes. We will have some sort of "easy supper" tonight because my middle one, Sarah, has her piano recital today at 7:00. ( That's where the brownies are going, lol.)
Starting off bright and early tomorrow morning, we have a group of men from church coming over at 6:00 am to help out with some work needing to be done on the house. So I will be up making breakfast for everyone. It will be biscuits, sausage, bacon and eggs. If I can, I will make some muffins today for that also.
Then, while the men are working, I will be in the kitchen baking a ham and whatever else I can get to for our Thanksgiving dinner with the in-laws at 1:00 pm at my FIL's house. That is what the "make ahead" mashed potatoes are for and maybe one of the pies. Also will be making sweet potato casserole and Lima beans for that.

After the family dinner, we need to get across the country road or two to our church Fall harvest party. It was rained out last month. It starts around 3:00 pm but we will get there when we can. I only need to bring hot dogs and buns for the "weenie roast" over the bonfire later in the evening.
Then Sunday after morning services, we will be having our Thanksgiving dinner with the church. I am bringing sweet potato to that meal and 2 pumpkin pies. The sweet potatoes are from my garden this year !!

Oh, did I tell you that we are going to Sam's club and Walmart this first part of the day? The girls are happy about it. Sam's Club is having their "Holiday Party" in the store and that means alot of food demos to taste, lol...
So everyone, please have a good day at your place .
