Hello & welcome to my blog! My name is gloria. I live in an old farmhouse on a beautiful hill overlooking God's green earth... along with my husband of 17 yrs and our 10 children. I enjoy the simple pleasures of country living. I love the Lord and desire to live a life pleasing to Him. This blog is a "journal" of sorts where I will be sharing my thoughts and ramblings, and occasional mishaps too. :) I hope you enjoy reading. God bless!

Here's what I picked up today for exactly $2.10 including tax (missing from the picture is a back of M&Ms - they were a filler item that turned into a snack on the way home). 18 total items and I earned back over $10 in Extra Care Bucks (ECBs - like a CVS gift card to use on your next purchase).
I love CVS because of deals like these! I could easily have spent $2 to buy just the Dawn dish soap or just 1 box of cereal. Instead I got all of these items for $2 and earned ECBs to spend next time.
"There are approximately 250 million deaf people in the world. If all the deaf people that lived on earth were put together in one place, they would be the fourth largest nation. Only one to two percent of all deaf people are Christians. " http://eoe.tripod.com/
I'm seriously thinking this is a ministry our family may be able to help with. It surely is one that needs as much help as possible. These people need to know about thier Creator and His Love for them. I'm starting by passing the word. Please join me and pass it along...
We have been very busy this weekend. On Friday, Harold had to go get some car parts that he ordered. He took his Dad and his nephew with him. Harold's sister, Emily, Josie, and I drove into Savers. RaeAnne and the rest of the cousins went for a drive. I needed to find some shoes for Josie. This child goes through shoes real quick. I was able to find some shoes that have leather uppers. Maybe these will last. I also got to spend my birthday money. I found a nice skirt and top that go with it.
We spent the rest of the day here doing things. We did lose one of the calves. Our company went to visit Daddy's brother and wife. They had a good visit with them. We let Rudi out into the pasture again. He likes being out in the grass.
On Saturday we went to Notus for the parade. The youth group had decorated a float on Friday evening. Harold pulled the float with his truck.
We came home and got some jello salad and veggies. We then went to a family gathering in Nampa. It was a big gathering of family. One of the cousins had passed away in January of this year, and they decided to have a gathering this summer when more people could come. While we were there, Josh called to be picked up. We left to go get him. We ended up having radiator trouble with the green van. We had to pull over and top off the radiator once it was cooled. By the time we got back to Nampa, it was boiling again. Harold got it cooled down and hosed the radiator off with a neighbor's hose (His aunt and uncle's well quit working that morning - what a day for that to do it). We made it home. It ended up the fan clutch was bad. Oil somehow had got spilled on the radiator this past winter and plugged it up some. Harold was given an old areostar van that someone wanted to junk. Because we have to running areostar vans, we thought we could use it for parts. Harold was able to clean the radiator on the green van and then took the fan clutch from the junk van and put on the green van. It was nice to be able to solve car problems without spending any money. I am very thankful that my husband does the work on our cars.
We just spent the evening here at home. The kids and I picked raspberries. I think we got close to a flat. Maybe we will have some for supper. Daddy's brother and his wife will be coming over. She wanted to have us all over for a meal, but just can't manage it. She is cooking a few things to bring over. I am cooking some roasts and we will have BBQ beef sandwiches, veggies, scalloped potatoes, cake, and homemade vanilla ice cream.
I missed the best picture. On my way in to the house there were 3 of these beautys on the same flower. I ran for my camera & when I came back only this one was left. But isn't he/she gorgeous?
"Tiny caterpillar, climbing up a tree
He wiggles & he wiggles & he wiggles back to me
I put him in a box, "Don't go away" I said
But when I opened up the box, a butterfly instead!
Its july already children looking for jobs and some have found some but not all Wallace woke
up one morning and couldn"t hear ,it was quite around here for a few days ,except when I had to yell at him or write a note Thank-you for for your prayers. Being he is on a lot of medication it was a concern but after 3 days he just needed his ears washed out at the hospital. Yesterday Rob and his wife Judy took us to a museum on dinosours I like them and they looked so real and then to lunch, It was a change. After we arrived home their daughter phoned for us to take her to the stables so she could ride her horse as she is getting ready for compitations. Because we are older it is always nice to be needed and to be a part of their lives..We are using our geen onions and my flowers are coming along. we have had rain off and on. Oh at the museum there was pictures of sand cranes with the red head I had never seen any but they tell me they come in flocks as they fly north and others have seen them. I looked up Mud Hens and it showed a bird that I didn't know and tjhen by putting the name mud hen crane I eventully saw the brown long legged brown bird Maybe it has a more elabrate name that I don't know, God bless Take care Lorena.
Auction Day - 06:33, Saturday, July 4, 2009 - By Marie
Saturday! Auction Day in the neighborhood. We will see how everything goes. There are a lot of neat things down on Elmers hay pasture. Everything from smokehouses and gazebos to wringer eashers and wood cook stoves. Mark drove our tractor down last night. The little ponies and carts are selling today too. I hope the buyers with money come :)
My in-laws arrives last night to stay the weekend. My father in law hopes to get a bunch of chickens today at the auction. I think they are selling about 300 young hens. He set up shop in our front yard yesterday and made a picnic table out there. It is made out of the extra rough cut lumber Mark has accumulated, a mixture of maple, oak and poplar. The table weighs a literal ton and I think we will need a group of amish guys to move it over to it's final spot under a maple tree. Until then, it can stay where it is.
I worked a lot on staking our 70 tomatoe plants the other night. My hands are such a mess now, between the scratches from the raspberry brambles, and stained fingers from the berries and stained hands from working in the tomatoes.... definitely not a hand model moment here.
Good weather today, thank you Lord. I think I need one more cup of coffee before I go out to face the cows. I'm trying to dry up Mrs Calloway ecause she should be due in a couple months (if I calculated right) and I'd like to give her a little rest. I just milk her out about half way each time until her milk supply goes down to the point where I don't milk at all. She has had a good long cycle this time, nearly two years. Not bad for an old girl.
Well, I'm off to get coffee in me. Have a great one!
I love roosters.
So far they have taken 3 truckloads out. They found better than expected trees here, so maybe we will be getting some extra money for them. We shall see.
