I don't often share recipes on my blog. I think most readers don't actually look for, or use, them. So the ones I post are the ones that are actual winners! I think you'll enjoy this recipe more than any other you have tried in the past! When my son had his last surgery years ago, a dear friend from church brought us a meal to help out afterward. The dessert she presented was Apple Crisp. We enjoyed it so much, I asked her for the recipe. Over the years, I have successfully used it with many different fruits. Try this recipe, and you'll never go back to whatever recipe you were using! I guarantee it! Apple Crisp (Or Rhubarb, Blueberry, Cherry, Peach...) Ingredients:
2 Cups flour 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup butter or margarine 3/4 cup oatmeal 2-3# peeled, sliced apples (or chosen fruit) 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 2 TBLSP cornstarch 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp cinnamon (OR if making CHERRY crisp, 1 tsp almond extract instead) Directions: Mix flour, sugar, butter, and oatmeal as for pie crust. Put half of mixture in greased 9x13 pan. Press gently to cover bottom of pan. Put fruit over crust. In saucepan, boil together sugar and water with cornstarch until thick. Take off heat and add cinnamon (or almond extract) and vanilla to mixture. Pour over fruit evenly. Now, top with remaining crumb mixture. Bake at 350 F. for 45 minutes. Totally easy, quick and TASTY! Enjoy! |
