We are so blessed, aren't we! Not only do we have plenty of clean water for drinking and cooking (Mmmm! Did your iced water taste as wonderful to you, as it did to me, today?), but there's also more than enough to soothe our senses! Have you ever been lulled to relaxation by the simple sound of waters breaking on the shore? Even the gentle lapping of a river at the edges of its banks makes the stress just melt away! The crashing, roaring sounds of a dam or waterfall drowns out all things contrary. It's awesome to hear... and to watch! Doing dishes? -- Doesn't that warm water feel good to your hands? And think of all that water pouring into your wash machine. Doesn't it just put you into a spirit of gratefulness? After all, soon your husband's work clothes will be clean, your Sunday wear will be ready for the next service and Baby's diapers will be clean, fresh and fluffy! Have you had a stressful day? Ahhhh, just hearing the water running from the faucet into the bathtub can dissolve any earlier frustrations and disappointments! And, oh, how wonderful to sink down into that water and forget everything except how relieved your muscles feel as they unwind! We are so blessed, aren't we! Something so simple, yet vital. I'm convinced all of these benefits are a part of the Lord's plan. He cares not only for our physical needs, but our emotional ones as well! He knew water would have a powerful effect on all of us! Night has arrived, here. The plants have been watered outside (they appreciate God's gift, too!), and the porch is neatened. The olders are off to bed after helping me do a last-minute-tidy-up of the lower floor following "history class" and math/English assignment corrections. There's nothing left for me to do, but to wash away the day's busy-ness and various stresses with a soak of my own. (Am I the only one who likes to extend the pleasant relaxation with a good book?) Thank you, Lord, for the simple pleasures!
