I just wanted to let you know........
I am going to be closing this blog. It has nothing to do with anything that has happened here at HSB. I haven't even been reading any of the blogs lately. It is only because I need to spend time doing other things instead of being online reading blogs or posting on my own. I have truly enjoyed getting to know some of you and I will be reading here and there, just not all the time. I have learned alot from many of you and I am thankful for that. When I have a question about homesteading, this is where I will come for my answer. This is a great community and I am glad to have been a part of it, but it is time for me to focus on other things. It is way to easy to get caught up reading entries and following bunny trails and that wastes valuable time that I could be devoting to my family or to God. I am going to keep my other blog open, A Woman's Walk With God. I feel led to leave it open for awhile. That blog has more of a purpose than this one. That one is a place to share my walk with God and to encourage others, as well as be encouraged by them. Feel free to visit me there anytime. Thank you for all the wonderful blessings I have received from all of my friends here at HSB!
Blessings,
Rashel

Why I haven't posted in awhile
One of my dear friends left me a comment asking how I was and said she had been thinking about me. So, I thought I would post and explain why I haven't posted in awhile. I have actually been considering deleting this blog but I haven't decided that is what I want to do yet. However, I have been taking a big break because I had been spending too much time on here. It isn't just the time I take to post, but I get caught up in reading so many of the other wonderful blogs here and I lost track of time. I just decided to stop it all for awhile and see what I wanted to do. I do love posting and keeping up with my friends and learning new things, but I have to come to a balance between this and everything else that needs my attention. This week we are taking a spring break and next week I hope to get us on a little stricter schedule than we had been on before. If this happens, I will allow a certain amount of time for me to get on the computer and check in, then I will stick to that time limit. That is where I have been, nothing exciting going on and nothing bad has happened, just a break and getting my priorities straight.
Blessings,
Rashel

Praise report
I wanted to let you all know about my son's arm. He went to the dr yesterday and the fracture is healed!! PRAISE GOD!! He will have to have physical therapy for a few weeks to get the muscles moving again, but that is definitely something we can handle and much better than surgery! I wanted to thank you all for your prayers, they were much appreciated!
For today, I am doing basic stuff around the house. I rearranged the furniture in the living room and swept while doing it. I need to do laundry, dishes and make some bread. Nope, it never got made the other day. The last two days have been busy and I hope to get a few things caught up today.
Have a great day

This weather is just crazy and I am tired of it
This weekend we had wonderful weather, nice and in 60's and 70's. Last night we had a thunderstorm which left my yard a swamp again and now, it is sleeting and snowing! ACK!!! I am ready for summer!!!
Things have been busy around here but I can't tell you exactly why or what I have been doing. I do feel like I need to step back and see why things are a little hectic lately. I know a few things, I need to stay home more and I need to get my menu plan in place and get my pantry stocked back up. So, I am working on my menu today. I posted about how I do mine on A Woman's Walk With God and you can read that post if you want more information about it.
I have tried to declutter a bit lately and made just a little progress in my room. I hope to make more this week. I have also come to the conclusion that sometimes it isn't good to put things off for a day or two. My dh has been off the last three days and I decided I would do my laundry and cleaning today, since he would be going back to work. Well, I ended up having three extra little ones this morning (two were only for an hour or so) but the baby I will have all day. That really throws a kink in my cleaning plans, but that is okay, I will get the must do stuff done and the rest will wait until I can get to it. My friend needed me to watch her baby 3 days this week due to her babysitter's son having the flu. I am glad I can help out and my chores will still be there when I get to them. I do have some must do todays, I will share them with you and try to post later or tomorrow and let you know what I got done.
make laundry soap
do laundry
do dishes
make menu plan
sweep floor
make bread
Okay, that is what I really want to accomplish today. I guess I should get off here and get busy then huh?!
Sorry for all my friends here in blogland, I haven't been keeping up with your posts lately. I have missed you but sometimes real life gets in the way and we must keep our priorities straight, mustant we!!
Blessings,
Rashel

Judgement, exhortation, fools and yes, the skirt issue
There has been alot of discussion around here lately about judging others that do not have the same convictions as you do and I felt a need to say something.
Here is a scripture about judging others:
Matthew 7: 1-5 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
We are called to exhort our brethren but not to judge them.
Hebrews 3:13 “Beware brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
Here are a few about giving instruction to those that choose not to recieve it, and we all know there are some of those here at HSB.
Titus 3:9-11, “But avoid all foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions and strivings about the law: for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.”
Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 9:7, 8 “He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.”
Proverbs 12:1 “Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.”
Here are a few about our speech and what the word says about disputing, which unfortunately is what some have been doing.
Ephesians 5:29 “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”
Philippians 2:14 “Do all things without complaining or disputing,”
James 5:9 “Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door.”
Now, I do wear mainly skirts because it is a PERSONAL conviction of mine. I do not think it is a sin to wear jeans or pants. However, I do think it is a sin to be immodest. I am not saying jeans are immodest and I know there are plenty of skirts in this world that are immodest. I strive for modesty in whatever I am wearing and right now, that is mainly skirts. Who knows, next month the Lord may lead me back to jeans. All I know is that I am to follow what He has placed on MY heart. There are several reasons I prefer skirts only and here are some of the scriptures that have led me to MY decision.
Romans 14:21 “It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.”
1 Corinthians 10:23, 24 “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well being.”
Philippians 2:4 “Let each of you look out not for his own interests, but for the interests of others.”
Yes, I am free to wear jeans but that does not make it helpful or edifying for my brothers. Yes, my brothers are ultimately responsible for their own thoughts and actions, but as the scripture states, I am to do all I can not to cause them to stumble. I believe that showing my cleavage or my curves is very much a stumbling block to most men, so I choose not to. I am not to be concerned about what I am free to do, I am to be thinking about others well being, not my own liberties.
I think we all need to remember that we are to love one another and I don't feel that tearing each other down and disputing back and forth shows much love. I also feel that our main concern be with other's salvation and knowing the Lord. As for those that are not of the same faith as us (Christian), we should be concerned with showing them the truth of the Word. Their dress is a peripheral matter but the real concern is showing them the Word of God.
Blessings,
Rashel

Homemade ice cream anyone?
Here are three different recipes for you. Yeah, I know, it isn't really the season for homemade ice cream but Sister Brenda is looking for some recipes. Besides, we made two batches over the weekend because of the birthday parties! So, here ya go. All of these are for our 6 qt freezer.
#1 Vanilla Ice Cream
This is our favorite but definitely not good for the waistline
4 eggs
3 Tbsp vanilla
1 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 pt of whipping cream
2 cans sweetened condensed milk
milk
Beat the first 5 ingredients well, pour into can and the add sweetened condensed milk. Stir just a little and then fill to your fill line with milk. Mix and enjoy!
#2 Vanilla Ice Cream
8 eggs
2 cups sugar
4 Tbsp vanilla
1-2 cans of milnot (evaporated milk)
milk
Blend first 3 ingredients until well blended and then add the milnot and mix again. Pour into freezer and add milk to the fill line. Mix and enjoy!
#3 Milky Way Ice Cream - here is your special treat
5 regular size milky way candy bars
1 can sweetened condensed milk
10 oz marshmallows
milk
Melt first 3 ingredients and mix well (it will be really sticky). Pour into freezer and fill to fill line with milk. Mix and enjoy! A friend of mine did use snickers candy bars but I suggest making sure the chunks are small if you do that.
I hope you enjoy if you try any of them.
Blessings,
Rashel
