My foot is done!
I worked on my “foot” today. I took up the area rug in my bedroom, swept and mopped the whole floor. In order to take up the rug, I had to take apart my bed and clean out under it. Do you all have stuff under your beds? I don’t have any storage in this house at all, so I do have stuff under there. I wish I didn’t though; it would be so much easier to clean under there if it was bare. I also took all the blankets and sheets off the bed and washed them since I had to take the bed apart; they are hanging on the line now. I really wanted to rearrange the bedroom while I had my bed apart but I just don’t have time since we have to go to baseball games in a little bit. I think when we get home I will go through all the boxes of stuff I had to move out of my room when I took out the rug. Surely there is some stuff in there I can get rid of. Ok, better go for now. Have you done your foot today? I know, weekends aren’t supposed to count but I have time today and I didn’t do so well all week, so I am making up for it today.

My foot is done!!
I haven't been such a good leader in this declutter/cleaning by the foot challenge and I am sorry. I did get a foot done before bed last night, I got some laundry put up that was in my room. This morning I decided I was getting it done early. I even did it before I got dressed (I had my pj's on and a sweatshirt). My foot today was my nightstand. I cleaned off everything that didn't belong and then dusted everything else. I would really like to do another foot today but we will see how the day goes. I have alot of papers that I need to go through and file or toss. Have you done your foot today? Rhen, did you do your foot yesterday?
I have also started laundry, swept the living room and kitchen, put up the dry dishes off the counter, made my bed, got dressed, did a short bible devotion and picked up the living room. I would really like to get some deep cleaning done today, but again, we will see how it goes. Ok, I will make a list of things I would like to do today and then I will see what God would have me do today and I will let you know how it goes later. (these are in no particular order)
1. another foot in bedroom (I did a whole box of paper clutter!)
2. dust living room, (this led to straightening up dvds)
3. get all the cobwebs (oh I hate those things)
4. more laundry and put it all up (it is hanging out to dry now)
5. mop
6. clean off kitchen counter (hotspot)
7. schoolwork
8. Bible devotion during quiet time
9. pick up yard
10. clean off porch a little
What are your plans for today? Be sure to post if you have done your foot or not.

My first "foot" - be warned..
Ok, consider this fair warning to any that may choose to join Rhen & me in the "one foot" challenge. (If you have no idea what I am talking about, see my previous post). I did my first "foot" today and I am here to tell you that it can lead to way more than a foot. My "elephant" is my bedroom, as I stated before, and my computer/desk is in my room. Well, my desk is almost always invisible, that is to say you can't see the desk for all the clutter on top of it . So, I decided my first area would be my desk and let me tell you, I would rather have scrubbed the toilet than tackle my desk. But, I can do a foot, right? So, I started on the left side of my computer, got me a plastic bag for trash and got busy. I kept tellin' myself, "just do this one spot and you will feel better". Well, I listened to myself and I did it. But the darndest thing happened, I just kept going. I looked at that spot and thought, oh, I can't leave the rest like that. Those dust bunnies might start havin' babies and take over my nice clean spot. So, I tackled the paper trays stacked on the left side of my computer, behind the flat surface I had just cleaned. I started with one tray, emptied it, threw away some trash, dusted it and put back what needed to find a home some other time (papers and such I need to file). Oh my, would ya look at that, it only took me a minute, let's do another tray shall we? Yes, I think we can do it. By golly, the second tray is done! Shoot fire, the third and final tray is done now too! Oh goodness, what about the top of the trays? I have a thing that has lots of little drawers for paperclips and such and it was rather dusty and hiding under some clutter and in between more clutter - but not no more. I can see the whole thing, sides and all. Did you know that was black? Nope, thought it was gray! Well, I'll be, there is that little piece of paper I searched for the other day. Well, we can't have the side of the computer sheddin' all it's dust bunnies over here on this nice clean left side of the desk, now can we. Oh, more stuff stuck on top of the computer, let's put it up so we can find it later. Uh oh, there is my mom's cd I am supposed to be givin' back to her, we better dust it off and set it on the kitchen counter to take to her tomorrow. There now, let's just dust off the top and front of the computer, and well, maybe just this right side too. Oh, under it looks a might dusty, let's get the vacuum and chase those bunnies around a bit. Yep, I did this all the way over to the right side, finished the right side, cleaned off the tower, the printer and the scanner. I am just about to finish up by putting all the kids cd games back in the cases and find a nice, neat home for them. My desk looks so nice and all the bunnies are gone. Be fair warned - one "foot" can lead to a "yard" or two!

A challenge for you, the "one foot method"
I have been putting off decluttering and doing my spring cleaning lately. I started out really good several weeks ago and then I don't know what happened. I have this problem with wanting to do too much all at once and then it seems none of it gets done well. Does anyone else have this problem? I found a website called girl talk and I can tell I will be spending way too much time on there in the near future. Anyway, I found this terrific idea of a new, less intimidating way to declutter and clean! The article quotes Elizabeth George and gives her credit for what she calls "the one foot method". What she does is she tackles one drawer, one shelf or one foot of space each day. We can do this!! With this small of a space, you can do this while waiting on your email to load, while waiting on the tea to brew or while talking on the phone. The article also talks about your "elephant", your worst space in your home. Which space do you avoid at all costs? Which is the last place in your home you want to clean? My "elephant" is my bedroom. It seems that everything gets piled in my room when it doesn't have a home. So, I will be tackling my "elephant" one foot at a time starting today. Are you with me? My goal is to clean/declutter one foot everyday and then post what I have done (weekends are excluded). Do you want to join me? If you do, comment below and tell me what your elephant is and we can do this together! Come on, I need some accountability partners here.
