My Diary of No Shampoo----Day 4 and 5

I am a little late with this post, it should have been posted yesterday.
Day 4 (this was yesterday) - I didn't wash or rinse my hair today. I wanted to see how oily and smelly my hair would be. Normally, my hair stinks if I don't wash it everyday. There wasn't that much oil in my hair at all, it didn't smell either!!! That really excites me that it wasn't all that oily or smelly!
Day 5 (today) - I woke up this morning thinking my hair would be really, really oily and really really stinky, but to my surprise......IT WASN'T!!!!
I didn't wash it today, I will probably wash it before bedtime. The egg shampoo is really working for me!
If I do wash it, I will post about tonight as My Diary of No Shampoo---Day 5 Part 2.
The egg shampoo works for all different types of hair. My sister does it, her hair is sort of dry. For awhile, my sister was using store shampoo and was washing her hair everyday, during this time her hair became very, very oily. I read on the internet that shampoos from the store causes this reaction that me and my sister had because it strips out all the oil from the scalp so the body thinks to make more. Zapping so much out from the scalp makes a body work over-time, so you become so oily that you have to wash everyday.
The egg shampoo cleans your hair and does not make the body react in that way.
Try this shampoo, I think you will like it.
I use two egg whites I whipp it with the mixer until it is really foamy. It reminds me of meringue when it is finished. I (well, actually my mom) rub it onto my scalp until all of the shampoo in the bowl is used. Then, I rinse it out when I take a shower.
I still use store conditioner, I hope to find something to replace that.
*It is best to rinse the egg shampoo with warm or cool water, not hot. Sometimes, when the egg shampoo is rinsed with really hot water it it will stay in the hair. I guess it kind of cooks it.
Read my other days in my diary.

That would be kind of funny to have cooked eggs in your hair! I'll have to try this... I just love reading about it! I'm using baking soda for my shampoo, and I LOVE it!! You could try using apple cider vinegar for your conditioner. It's kind of smelly at first, but once your hair drys, it doesn't!!
Have a great day!!

I tried Baking Soda and it broke my hair off at the scalp. It took me a very, very long, long time to grow back the hair that got broken off. It made me very sad to see the broke off pieces, they stuck straight off of my head.
Baking Soda made my hair feel clean and I thought it was great for my hair.....at first, but then I relized my hair was breaking off at the scalp. You may want to quit doing this because baking soda is an abrasive.
I tried using Apple Cider Vinegar for my hair, It didn't work for me. It dried my hair, lightened it, and made it very tangly. It has the same effects as white vinegar and lemon juice.

What a great idea to use eggs! The baking soda didn't work for me so I've been using a natural shampoo form the health food store. I get my conditioner there too, but I'm going to try the vinegar and see how that works. Thank you for the ideas :)

Hi Lisa,
I used baking soda for my hair in the past. I found that it will break hair off at the scalp.
I had so much breakage in my hair from using Baking Soda. I don't recommend using it for hair. It took me months (actually about a year) to grow back the hair that broke off. It was very sad :(

Btw.....Apple Cider Vinegar will dry your hair out.....really, really bad. It will also lighten the color of your hair. Lemon juice and white vinegar are also very HARSH on the hair and they work the same as apple cider vinegar.

Thank you for the information Belle, I didn't realize they were hard on hair. Maybe I'll stick with my finds from the health food store along with the egg whites. I plan to try the egg whites as soon as we get our own chickens :)
Hugs,
Lisa
