Herbs Garden

This year, my family is going to plant an herb garden, I am very excited!
We went to the Wal-Mart and bought many different types of herb seeds. We bought Corainder/Cilantro, Lavender, Calendula, Nastrium (sp?), Echinea (we call it purple cone flower), Parsley, Lemon Balm, and others.
I want to learn all of the uses and medicinal purposes of herbs. I also want to use herbs that I grow in foods, make tea with them, and make beauty products. I found this recipe for a body spray that I might try. I might share it with you all some time.
If you have any tips about herbs to help me out, please share them!

Lemon balm is very invasive and will do very well in pots, instead of in the ground in your garden. I checked out a few books at the library on herbs. I also signed up for a free trial magazine called The Herb Companion. www.HerbCompanion.com
This is a very informational magazine!
Another good book to check out at the library would be "Prescription for Herbal Healing" By Phyllis A Balch.

Belle,
I would look for the book "Culpepper's Color Herbal" it will tell you all the madical purposes for herbs, tell you where certain herbs will grow, and gives the historical remedies that these plants were used for. MotherEarth magazine is also helpful.
I would also look for the civil war remedy books.
