Spring is where??
Hi All,
Waiting impatiently for spring to sprung, ;) if you will around here. We've had the most mild winter and now when spring is officially here, it's freezing out!! We've had our home recently appraised, just wanted to see where we stand in the neighborhood. We love our home. There is a few things we would change, like I wish we had a bigger lot. We are currently working on planning out my new kitchen! I can't wait to get started on it!! There is soooo much to look forward too! Like picking out my new cabinets, and deceiding on a new oven and such! I can't wait till we're full swing. We've just deceided to finish up some the little projects around here. Then get going on the kitchen!
Anyone want to share some kitchen remodeling tips and ideas??

Yes, I have some suggestions...LOVE Corian counters...HATE alder cabinets. Go with Cherry. Pay the extra, and go with cherry. Alder is WAY too soft for my family of boys. :)
Hard wood floors are awesome, and much easier to care for than tile. Make sure you have Alot of counter space, and lots of storage space for your canned stuff and gizzmos for your kitchen.
I LOVE having a gas stove, and hated electric, I even hated the glass top electric stoves. They stained and you couldn't get it clean.
I hope this helps!

I haven't done a kitchen remodel...
...but I've heard from enough people who have that it makes me cringe just a little. Here is what I've learned from various tired, frustrated souls:
Make sure you have good alternate kitchen space set up for the duration, since it will most likely take longer than you expect. Do some meal planning (BBQs and crockpots are great when there's sawdust all over inside) to make your days go easier - especially if you're going to be spending a lot of hours at work on your project. Take-out food and disposable dishware adds up to a major hidden cost if you're not careful.

Oh, wouldn't that be lovely to remodel the kitchen!! Go with really great appliances would be my suggestion. My husband spent extra on a top of the line dishwasher for me and my goodness, it is wonderful!! When it's something used so often, it makes sense to get the best. Hard for the cheapskate in me to accept but it's true :)
Have fun!!

We've remodeled most of our kitchen recently. We chose granite for the counters along with a composite granite sink (undermount) and I love them. The counters are so easy to take care of plus there's no worry if you accidentally sit something hot on them.
For cabinets we went with all wood from a company called Tru Wood. http://www.truwood.com/ We chose birch in a ginger finish.
