My hubby and I were blessed last October when we found a home to buy that we loved. We had been in our former home for 10 years and we loved our little place. It had lots of character and we had fabulous next-door-neighbors. But the yard was all but non-existent and we really wanted a bit more space. When Jack was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, we knew he needed lots of exercise. His doc couldn't say enough about the impact good exercise will have on Jack's overall health as well as keeping his blood sugar in a good zone. My husband used to swim competitively as a youngster and still loves the water. Jack would stay immersed all day if we let him. So, we began looking for a home with a pool. Unfortunately, the only houses with pools in our price range either had a pool with no yard around it (the available lot was filled up with the pool) or the house would be in such disrepair we knew we couldn't do the work. Then one day as I was searching on-line for available homes with pools, a house came up that was within our price range AND had a big yard in addition to the pool. We called a real estate agent we had been working with and he got us in that day. The house was vacant and when we walked in we both looked at each other and just thought: this is it! The back yard is huge, the pool is in-ground 15'x40', the front yard is large and well-cared for and the house is just shy of perfect. We asked our agent to look into it for us. He called us back and said that someone had already put a bid in. We were crushed! Just when we were getting our heads around the fact that we wouldn't get our new home, our agent called. Seems like the first people pulled out of the deal because the jetted tub in the main bathroom didn't work (it held water but the jets didn't work). When the owners said they wouldn't fix it, the bidders backed out. Mitch and I jumped on it. When we were having a walk through, our agent looked at the breaker box. Hmmmm. What's this blown breaker? He flipped it and sure enough...the jetted tub spurted to life! The one thing that allowed us to move into first position was a blown breaker! Talk about "meant to be"! I believe God was in the driver's seat on this one. Anyway, we got our home, got the heater and safety cover installed on the pool and feel like the wealthiest people in the world as we sit on our deck and enjoy watching Jack play in the yard and swim. Well, heaters and covers aren't cheap so while Mitch is at two different math conferences getting paid to be there, I got a job with the local ballpark as a waitress/hostess. I just got back from a game tonight and I was hot and tired. The kids had been swimming while I was gone and the pool was still open. I put my suit on and at 10:30pm jumped in the cool water and swam a couple of laps. I know I'm beating this into the ground, but I felt so blessed and lucky to be able to take that 10 minutes and indulge in this luxury. And I definately needed it!
nice....

it's good to know that God is in both the big things and the small ones too.
