Keep the Homefires Burning

Another day, another dollar

It's just after 10pm and too late for this old girl anymore! It's been interesting having DH down with his broken clavicle. Makes me appreciate all the little ways he helps out. Jack (the 8.y.o.) and I mowed the lawn...actually Jack did most of it. I started out just fine until DH decided to stand on the patio and instruct!! Can you say "bad idea"? It took one hair-eyeball look and he retreated back into the house to let us do our best on our own! It's been very hard on him to be laid up. When his ibuprofen and pain pills kick in he thinks he's better and then overdoes things. I've been working my summer job (three whole nights so far) of working for our local farm league baseball team. I'm a sky box hostess which is just a glorified way to say an outdoor waitress. Opening night was a nightmare! I'd never done this kind of work before and my four sky boxes were filled to overflowing. I couldn't get orders filled fast enough, people were getting frustrated with me, I spilled a tray of drinks...it could have been worse but I don't know how!! The past two nights, however, have been much better and I think I'm getting the hang of it (knock on wood). Since I have my summers free, I figured this would be a way to make a little extra money to put towards the pool improvements. DH was going to work at the ballpark as well but then turned them down when a bunch of training for math teachers came up. He will have to travel for four weeks...maybe, if he doesn't take it easy on his broken bone he may be on bed rest for the summer! I like that the job is for a set number of days and ends at the end of summer. It's not every night so we can still get camping in. So far I think it will be a nice way to throw $ at some bills. Best part, I get comp tickets so my DH and son can come to some games this year. Jack can't wait! He is as much of a sports nut as his dad! Yikes! 10:20...I have a date with my pillow!
