Do you know when you will be getting the "economic stimulus check" or how much you will be getting? Can you exit from the debt counseling agency or are you locked in to finishing up with them?
I can't wait until my garden start producing because grocery costs keep going up. I have planted raspberries this year...I hope they do well. Last year I bought little blueberry bushes at WalMart for $6 and they are loaded with flowers and have all survived. I also planted a grape from WalMart last year that is starting to leaf up.
The U of MD Cooperative Extension recommends small berries for home gardens, but I have never tried them before. I have to say I have been very pleased with the WalMart plants as they were priced way below other stores and seem to be thriving.
Right now I just have the berries, peas, and sugar snap peas growing....too cold for others yet.

God will provide

You know that God WILL provide. Almost 3 years ago I found out how much debt we were in (more than one year's salary) right in the middle of my post partum depression. The next day I found out I was pregnant. Boy, did I feel like my life was caving in around me! We had tough roads ahead but family came through with small loans and we put ALL our "extra" money towards credit cards. I'm talking about tax returns, birthday money, etc...I just posted about this a few days ago. Friday I found out we had payed off our last credit card. Hang in there. aggielandmommy.blogspot.com
