Decorating- Brunch

It seems like I usually have my brunches in the spring/summer. Decorating is simple- I get out all my mismatched china, my Great Grandmothers old silver and my grandmotherÂ’s lace table cloth. Sometimes I layer the lace table cloth with an old stained quilt (stains will be hidden under lace) or colored sheet- for added texture and color.

I get flowers straight from my garden. I love a brunch in the spring because I use my lilacs- and oh, the scent! I put small sprigs in tiny violet vases and old glass baby food jars I dress up with ribbon (that coordinates with the colors IÂ’m using)- and set them down the middle of the table or infront of each place setting. I make one large bouquet for an oversized vase that I set off to the back/corner of my serving table. I serve buffet style- where everyone serves themselves from a table full of food. I use mismatched cloth napkins- sometimes the napkins are laid flat in a long rectangular basket and sometimes I set the silverware on them, tie it all together with a matching ribbon and arrange it on top of each place setting.

This is really all very simple but the effect is beautiful.

Sounds beautiful! I really like the idea of decorating glass jars with colourful ribbons. I hadn't thought of that so thanks for the idea : ) Have a nice day!
