Ten on Tuesday

Name your ten things best things about being a kid.

1)  Spent all day outside and the mosquitos didn't drive me bonkers (like now) You went out after breakfast- Mom called you in for lunch- back out again- then back in for supper- and if you were lucky, back out again!

2)  ENERGY! Lots and lots and lots of energy.

3)  Summer reading @the library

4)  Seeing how high I could swing and then jumping off @ the highest point!

5)  Swimming- the temperature of the water never affected me & I was fearless

6)  Our Family Trips over summer vacation- all I had to do was have fun (now I have to plan it and pay for it and pack for it . . . .)

7)  Having a lot less responsibility (and not paying ever worrying about the price of gas!!!)

8)  The feel of the breeze as you peddled your bike at what you thought was a very high rate of speed (and then the exhilaration of letting go of the handlebars & raising your feet up)

9)  Wrestling on the floor with my Dad and siblings (we called it "wrassling" )

10)  Hide and Go Seek

I wasn't concerned about what I was wearing (or what my family was wearing) or how dirty I was, if my hair was combed, you didn't care if you had a bath or went to bed dirty (ever wake up with sand in your sheets after a day @ the beach?) . . . . my main objective was to find the fun in everything!

We lived out in the country on a farm and we hiked everywhere- spent our summer days outside all day- (some days we were playing about 1/2 a mile from the house!) and Mom was inside. There were no worries about someone snatching you or harming you (we didn't even lock our doors!). Now, I've got to say it- those were the good ol' days.

actually live in a place so similar to my childhood home, so it is nice for the kids.
