I've been quiet
I realize I’ve been a bit quiet here lately.Busy days here . . . . we finally got some snow- which we just had to play in! And now it’s gone.
We still have Thanksgiving leftovers- which I’ve frozen and/or used in creative ways. Keeping our menus simple.
My father brought a JD Gator home from work for the holiday weekend and so the kiddos and Mr. Steady and I spent a lot of time tooling around through the fields and woods and back again. My Dad even let each of the kids “drive”. We practically had to pry Mr. Conductor’s hands from the wheel.
I’ve made my list and checked it twice- and am quite thankful that it is so short this year. I’ll be having Sister Day with my dear sweet sis this Saturday- getting the rest of the shopping done and visiting too!
Maiden turns 11 very soon and so there is the prep work for that going on. We’re finalizing the details for her birthday field trip and such. We’ve run into problems scheduling her family birthday party- lots of other “stuff” going on for the family which is making it hard. We are trying to keep it to what Maiden wants without upsetting the delicate family balance.
This week includes our prep for Advent. We will have our Jesse Tree and the devotionals that go with it as well as our Advent Read Aloud- Bartholomew’s Passage (oh, how I love this series!)- both starting on Sunday, December 2nd. I will be making my own Advent wreath again this year as it turned out so well last year.
I’ve been taking down and packing away the harvest/fall decorations and cleaning as I go . . . . . we’ll start putting up Christmas decorations this weekend. The house looks a bit bare during the transition . . . .

My Husband (DH)-Mr. Steady
My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.
DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.
DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.
DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
