Amy,
Do you transplant lettuce seedlings, or do you seed directly into the ground? I seem to have poor results with just about anything I don't transplant as a seedling. I'm not sure why.

Lettuce

The lettuce we have growing right now is from plants we let go to seed during the summer.
We started lettuce in little pots from seeds this past spring as part of a science lesson. We learned that we planted too much. We had 3.5 rows of lettuce in our garden and couldn't eat or give away enough!
I couldn't keep up with it all and about half a row went to seed.
And now we are reaping the benefits!
It is a blessing when something you didn't really plan on or plan for- takes root and grows. Ah, the harvest!
God is good!

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.

DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
