Laura-
Thank you for your comment in the previous post.
I am humbled by your request.
I am working on a reply.
God is good.

In other news:
We went to an Orchard yesterday with our homeschool group and we were each given a pint of Cider as part of our tour (tour cost $3.50/person and included cider, a donut and an apple on a hayride thru the orchard, petting barn, and of course, a cider making demo). The weather was gorgeous. We enjoyed a picnic lunch at a local park afterwards.
Since we were in the Big City- which I hardly ever, never go to- the kidlets and I made a quick pit stop at Target to check out shoes for Maiden. I've been amazed at how hard it has been to find shoes for her- none (in great condition) at local thrift stores and it looks as if Wal-mart doesn't even go up to her size in youth. My budget was $15 and I was able to find her a very adorable pair of black flats for $12.99 plus tax ($13.77). I am hoping that Sassafras's feet won't grow so fast and that she will be able to wear these shoes next fall/winter. I consider this to be a thrifty purchase. Maiden will wear the black flats to church almost every week (she also has a pair of brown clogs). So by my calculations- from now until the end of March is 24 Sundays (I'm not including when she may wear them during the week). Let's say she wears the shoes for 18 Sundays- that comes to 77 cents CPW (cost per wear). If Sass can wear them for at least half of next fall/winter- say 15 Sundays that brings the CPW down to 42 cents. Not too bad.
I much prefer it when I can get a pair of dress shoes for $3-5 but this is a good buy for brand new. Sass can wear Maiden's dress shoes from last year (2 sizes of black and 1 pair of navy) but she will need a pair of brown dress shoes. Mr. Conductor is pretty much set thanks to some almost brand new hand-me-downs from my sil and some gifts from Nana, the Goodwill Queen.
Speaking of Nana, the Goodwill Queen- she hit payload at Goodwill last week- all items half off. She brought me a big bag filled with:
a dress shirt, 2 pairs of pants and 1 train sweatshirt for Mr. C., 3 prs of dress pants, 1 pr of jeans, 2 shirts and 2 dresses for Sass and 2 prs of pants, 1 shirt and 1 skirt for Maiden. The biggest and bestest part of the haul? A lovely confection of black velvet, red taffeta with black velvet flower appliqués, silver sequins and a big red bow- A Christmas Dress for Sassafras.
You did know that Christmas is only 70 days away didn't you?

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.

DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
