Top O’ The Mornin’ To Ya!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I have had so much fun setting up today for my kiddos! Of course, we are all wearing green! This morning the girls found that a leprechaun had left behind his hat and a few coins at the kitchen table- making a quick get-away after reading the blessing we had left the night before. You see, the leprechaun was so enamored with all the blessings the girls had written down that he quite forgot and left his hat and then dropped a few of the gold coins the girls had left for him.

He also left them a couple of gifts to help them in their learning . . . . Leprechauns are smart little people and are always looking to match wits with someone. He left behind a couple of books on Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day, along with a wonderful story telling CD- Tales from Old Ireland (from Barefoot Books). Also- Mr. O’Grady- our Leprechaun, left a small note for each girl on shamrock paper- letting them know how truly blessed they are.

After checking out the treasures, my girlies feasted on Green Eggs and Ham with Green Milk. I sent them off to school with sandwiches made with green bread, green grapes, green milk and Green vanilla pudding topped with lime jell-o and complete with a green napkin and spoon.

For supper we will be having Irish Stew and more green bread (with green butter!!) Green juice and dessert is chocolate mint ice cream with special Irish cupcakes. We have wonderful Irish dance music to listen to as well as our story telling CD and a video (Riverdance- the girls love to “dance” with them.)

We will take time to share the “traditional” Irish blessing and read the girls blessing lists. Of course we’ll talk about St. Patrick’s life for our family devotional time.
