Home Sweet Simple Home

She's married!

My little sister is now a married woman. The wedding was completely lovely- the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It was indeed, a blessed day.
Here are just a few pictures of the lovely event that joined two lives into one.

I knew Mr. Mechanic was the right man for her when he began to get emotional at the sight of my sister [he is not emotional by nature- not at all]. He struggled through his vows with tears streaming down his face. Mr. Steady reached over and squeezed my hand and we gave each other "the look"-- we knew this man does indeed love my sister with his whole heart. My sister could not stop smiling-- it reminded me of my own wedding day and the immense joy I felt that was reflected on my face.
The ceremony was simple-- perfect for these two people. Mr. Mechanic's brother and I were the witnesses but we sat with the family-- only Em and Mr. Mechanic and our pastor were standing- simple, elegant and lovely.
The ceremony took place on a private beach on Lake Michigan.

God has blessed our family richly.

Yes, indeed we are blessed. God is good.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. What an absolutely beautiful wedding. And, I am so glad to hear that your children had fun and made you proud of them at the restaurant. The truth is that every kid is going to hit a rough patch and be difficult. The rough patch may even last for a couple of years. That's why they have parents!
I was just talking to a mom whose son went through one of those rough patches last year, his senior year in high school. Kids at our high school are allowed to have a water bottle to drink out of during classes. Apparently some of the more industrious kids were bringing alcohol in those water bottles and selling it to other kids. This boy developed a serious alcohol problem from drinking during the day at school, and the problem was so severe that his parents had to send him through an alcohol rehab program. They suspected he was drinking, and he confessed when they confronted him.
I'm sure it was a rough year for them, but now he is back on track and taking some classes at the community college and working part time, living at home. This was a kid who never caused them any concern before that. By the way, the high school water bottle policy has been changed.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.

DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
