Back to school days: Curriculum

Kicking off my Back To School Days!
Let me share with you what curriculum we will be using this year . . . .
Maiden will be using WinterPromise’s Quest for the Middle Ages series for history, geography, social studies, Bible and science and the readers (living books) part of language arts (and also contains notebooking and hands-on activities). She’ll also be using Sonlight’s Core 5 Language Arts program with Grammar Ace and Sequential Spelling plus Horizons 4 for math. Her electives are piano (she’s teaching herself), nature study and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. She is also involved in Caravan (a scouting program) at our church.
Sassafras will be using Sonlight’s Core 2—the whole kit and caboodle. She’ll be using Sequential Spelling (because she asked to) and Horizons 2 for math. Her electives are nature study and art. Since Sonlight’s Core 2 contains the Middle Ages she will be joining Maiden on some of the notebooking and hands on activities from WinterPromise. She is also involved in the Caravan program at our church.
For physical education we will be taking nature hikes, doing daily stretching exercises with Daddy and using our Tae Bo Kicks kids workout DVD as well as the normal running around and being crazy that is constant in this home.
Mr. Conductor will be “starting” a more organized bit of preschool this year. He is requesting to “do school like the sissies” meaning he wants some seatwork to do while they are doing seatwork. I am putting this together myself- using some workbooks and helpful preschool websites.
Every Tuesday we meet with our homeschool group- LAMP (Learning At My Place). This year we will be doing monthly unit studies based on Drive Thru History America- Foundations of Character.
