**UPDATED**-- I just added the recipe for Paprika Chicken. Yum!
Amy,
How much money do you budget for all food, drinks, snacks per month? Do you have a different budget in the summer (garden produce) vs. the rest of the year?
When you save your leftovers, do you freeze them to save for use on your planned leftover meal times? I am just thinking that something I cooked on Monday/Tues/even Weds may not be that good by Saturday or Sunday.
Did your family watch any of the Live Earth on Saturday night? What did you think of it? They did push compact flourescent bulbs a lot, and we are slowly switching over to them throughout our house. I have definitely seen a reduction in our electricity usage because of them. Here in MD, we just got a 50% price increase in electricity bills as of June 1. I haven't gotten a bill since the increase, but I have a guestimate of how much more we will be spending. My husband thinks we need to replace our very old water heater next. He is looking at state and federal rebates if we bring in a solar/electric water heating system. From what he has researched so far, it won't be a lot more than just replacing the water heater.

What a great and economical week you have planned, as always. Have a wonderful Monday.
We didn't watch Live Earth as we were visiting with my family. [I do believe that as Christians we should be doing our part to care for God's earth.]
We too are switching over to the compact f. bulbs. We aren't able to switch all lights over as they don't seem to work well in our old ceiling fans (I think the rattle of the fan wears the bulb out faster) and there are a couple of table lamps that seem to get knocked over (and blown out) at least once a week (thanks to children running all over).
We have a gas water heater and all our appliances have good energy star ratings (except the stove- which I love and which is about 20+ years old. it's a gas stove and cooks wonderfully). We plan to put some more insulation in our attic this fall to help keep our heating costs down.
When we replaced our old washer and dryer and large freezer a few years ago we noticed a tremendous difference in our electric bill right away!

Amy,
I only buy my CFs at WalMart because they sell them for far less than other stores in my area. It does take a while to find bulbs that fit everything, and they are more $$ so I have been buying a few each month for about 2 years. So far, we have adjusted to them. I heard some complaints from DH and kids about hall lights/bedroom lights that take about 1 minute to reach full brightness, but the complaints have died down.
I just wish the US would use some of its inventiveness to produce alternative energy on a mass basis. I feel like our dependence on foreign (and unfriendly) countries for their oil is a national security issue and we should address it once and for all. Most alternatives will also cut down on pollution, so it would be a double win for us. Meanwhile, I agree with you that we can all do what we can in our own lives to reduce pollution/energy spending.

Wonderful menu, everything sounds great!! Thanks for sharing!
My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady
My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.
DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.
DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.
DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
