Tea Tree Oil Question

4:32 PM, 2006-Mar-1 .. 3 comments .. Link

Okay- I have read some conflicting views/ reports on tea tree oil and I just know you ladies can clear it all up. I have a few reasons for wanting to have some on hand, one- our lice infestation that I don't EVER want to come back, two- it's suppose to be in every first aid kit (good for cuts and scars) and three I heard it was great for acne.

My question has to do with scars and acne. I read in one place to not use undiluted/pure tea tree oil directly on your skin- especially your face. (This of course is where I have my acne problem.) What say you? If I have to dilute it what should I do?

Help me please!

using tea tree oil on your face is up to your skin type. If you have dry skin do not use it undiluted!!! it will cause more acne. If you have dry skin and need to use tea tree oil dilute it with almond oil. I would use 10 drops per 1/4 cup of almond oil. It makes a nice light moisterizer.

Hope this helps

I'm following this with interests, I've also heard that it can't be applied directly to the skin without being diluted first. And can't it be used as a mouth wash?

Interesting...

I'm just getting clued into all of this, myself. I'm hearing it's practically a miracle product.

Here I am, I'll be 47 in a mere few days (eeekkk!!!) and I still break out like I did when I was 16, especially in the winter. My 18 yo dd is starting the same terrible pattern I did. So, my friend who took me to her co-op told me about this GREAT stuff that her son has been using that she orders through the co-op - said it cleared him up in days. So she ordered some for me: Tea Tree Oil Facial Cleansing Pads by Desert Essence. You get 50 in a jar and they're less than $4.00!! So I got dd one jar and myself one. We've only been using it for 2 days, but I can tell a difference in a terrible cystic blemish I've had below my jaw for a week. The web address on the jar is: www.dessertessence.com .

We used Proactive for 4 years and became ammune to it - worked great WHILE it worked. But, I really want to get away for processed meds.

Hope this helps.
