My Works for Me Wednesday (WFMW) tip today is to share the best solution we have ever found for exema.
As you may or may not know, my daughter, Sassafras has suffered from terrible exema her entire life. At times it has been so bad that it has become infected and oozing. She has been on topical RX cream since she was a baby. When it was at it's worst this past fall, she was on a topical RX exema cream, a heavy duty oc lotion and a topical RX steroid cream 3 times a day as well as Zyrtec (pill form) and Benadryl. Her physican advised us that the best treatment after that was a heavy emollient cream twice a day- for the rest of her life. We did the whole treatment of creams and pills for months and while the exema would lessen and not look as bad- it never totally disappeared.
Then my mom found a wonderful cream at a local natural store called Look, No X E Ma Cream. This stuff is incredible. Within 24 hours the redness and puffiness was gone. Now two months later all we can see is an area that is pinker and a bit raised (and I think it may always look that way- a permanent scarring maybe). I am absolutely thrilled with this cream. We tried so many, many different OC and herbal remedies over the past few months.
Our daily routine now is for her to put the No X E Ma Cream on the raised red patch and any new patches we may find when she changes clothes each morning and evening. She also puts on an emollient lotion once a day or every other day on her arms and legs (as well as her whole body after baths).
The cream is made by Nature's Acres from their Four Elements Herbals line and can be found here. While it costs $10 for a 2 oz jar it lasts and lasts. A little goes a long way- we've been using it for over 2 months and have approximately half of the jar left. It has a pleasant very light herbal scent and while it is greasy it soaks up very well.
Now every time someone in our family has an irritated patch on their skin (whether it's exema or a rash or some such thing) we just rub in a bit of this cream and it disappears!
Don't forget to check in at Rocks in My Dryer for more wonderful tips!
I have exzema as well (all my life) and I can tell you a huge way of helping is to not eat pork. Pork is a big aggravant and very easy to cut out of a diet. Our family did a few years ago and we are definitly healthier for it! HTH
All for His glory,

PS- make sure any cream you use has no parabens in them. Parabens are a very bad drug added to many lotions and such.

Part of the problem with eczema is dry skin. I'm on a dermatology rotation this month, and what they seem to recommend (which you probably already know, given her history) is lots and lots and lots of good moisturizer. Especially right after a shower. Leaving the skin damp and applying lots of eucerin or cetaphil is a great way to moisturize. In severe cases, like your daughter's the other creams and steroids are often necessary, but in milder cases, just making sure to use moisturizer every day or twice a day, even if the skin doesn't seem dry, can go a long way in decreasing the symptoms.
So happy for you!

We may try to find that. My daughters all have eczema problems, and after the patches are treated, we use Cetaphil Cream - and we keep it on there ALL THE TIME - that stuff works great too to keep it from getting dry. :)
Glad you found something that works!

You may possibly be my lifesaver today!! I have terrible eczema on my right hand (don't know why it's just the one), especially this season. No matter how much lotion I put on, it's always cracked, bleeding, flaking, and itchy. So I'm VERY excited to look for something that might really work! I hope I can find it, thanks so much!

I was moved almost to tears to see that our cream has helped this child after so much suffering.
My daughter was born with ecxema also and after much studying, developed this cream.(I have been making herbal products for 20 years). This product not only helps so many people, but is probably floating my business, selling 4X more than any other product, although I make about 100.
People should know what else helped my daughter was taking evening primrose oil and cod liver oil 2X a day.
This really helped her get beyond the problem, also.
Thanks so much to the mom who wrote in that testimonial.
Kind regards, and thanks to the Herbs that Heal!

I hate Eczame and I wish there were a cure. I get it often on my scalp. Washing with Nizarol shampoo is the only remedy that works for me.
Thanks for posting on this topic.

My son who is two now has suffered from ecezema as young as 4mos. It started out as what we thought was cradle cap but it spread to his face and wept and his skin cracked and bled. My poor little guy, nothing we did seemed to help. Thay gave him a dose of a steroid and it magically cleared up. I really didn't want to have him take something so strong but it gave him releif. He's on another steroid cream and I really want to take him off but I we haven't found a stronge enuf replacement. I will be looking to buy this product an come back to tell u how it worked. Thank you!
