How the ribs turned out

1:05 PM, 2007-Apr-13 .. Posted in Recipes .. 1 comments .. Link

I was finally able to try Mr. Steady's idea for crockpot BBQ ribs this week.
I placed the ribs in the bottom of my oval crockpot and then mixed 1/4 cup cherry BBQ sauce with just under 3/4 cup of water. I poured the watered down sauce on the ribs and cooked it all on high for 4 hours.
It was excellent! The ribs just fell apart when I tried to fork them out of the crockpot! Yum!
We will be having this again! (I've got another 1.5 pounds of ribs in the freezer!)
I have cooked ham in the crockpot like this before. Very, very delicious.
Mr. Steady has a thing for cherry BBQ sauce. We purchase ours from Cherry Republic right here in the great state of Michigan.

I'll have to try this

I believe you said in an earlier post that these were boneless pork ribs. I will have to look to see if we have the boneless variety; I know we have the bone-in variety locally.
I thought of you at Easter. We drove to MO (14 hours) and stayed at MIL's house (who was wearing no perfume, much to our relief). One SIL and her husband were there, along with their adult daughter and her husband.
Here's why I thought of you. The adult daughter graduated from a prestigious private college, and is working on her PhD. Her husband has finished medical school and is completing his residency. Everyone (especially the girl's parents) act like these are the perfect ones....they can do no wrong.
Easter morning, they did not attend church with the family. They "had things to do."
Isn't it sad that so much value and prestige is placed on this young couple's educational accomplishments and no one seems to care about their spiritual life?
The church we attended is a small church in a small, poor town. There were about 65 people attending this service, and there were empty pews. This is so different that what we are used to! We usually have over 600 people at Easter, with folding chairs in the aisles and standing room only at the back of the church.
There was a choir of about 10 people, and they performed a lovely Easter service. They obviously put a lot of work into it. I just wish more people had been there to witness it.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady

My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.

DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.

DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.

DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
