Tuesday SchoolWe school at home 4 days a week and Tuesdays are our day with our homeschool group. Over half the moms in our group also belong to our local MOPS group, which also happens to meet in the same location as our homeschool group. So every 2nd Tuesday of the month is MOPS in the morning and homeschool group in the afternoon (otherwise our homeschool group meets for the whole daySo join me today for another exciting glimpse into our week of homeschooling . . . . 7:30 am- Mama up, dressed and having devotions with a large cup of coffee 8:05 am- kiddos begin to stir 8:15-8:40 am- kids get up, get dressed and eat breakfast. Mama checks email, sends out weekly e-newsletter to youth group and finished packing necessities for our day (gifts for MOPS- I’m hospitality leader, lunches, and homeschool papers as well as a couple of stories and a short video- for when the kids finish lunch before the moms have even begun to eat!) 9:30 am to 11:30ish am- MOPS for Mama, Moppets for Mr. Conductor and art/drawing class for Maiden and Sassafras 11:40ish am- the kids help with the tear down and clean up from MOPS Noon: Lunch- I bring Mr. Conductor back to the table twice and tell him he’s not allowed to get up unless he asks- he finally stays put and finishes his lunch. (He’s easily distracted by all the other kids and their food!) 1:30 pm- We run through half of our spring musical, then have 3 of the kids share their Young Authors books, finish the 2nd half of the musical and do some wiggle stretches and such- then finish up with 3 more Young Authors books and the grand finale song for the musical. During this time I am in charge of leading the Young Authors portion and split my time between this and tearing off after Mr. Conductor who decided to show me that yesterday’s behavior was indeed a fluke and generally runs amuck. I feel my stress level begin to rise and am getting that nagging pinch in my shoulders (sure sign I’m stressing). I’d say that ended our school day but the learning never ends here- even for me! I had a wonderful, revitalizing 30 minute nap and read a bit after, Maiden read like a fiend, Sass sang, read and listened to her CD and the boys got in nice loooooong naps. Thankfully, Mr. C woke up much better than he had went down and he helped Mr. Steady and I make supper while the girls finished folding and putting away that 2nd load of laundry I never got out of the dryer yesterday. (!) Supper dishes were cleaned up in no time and Maiden even got my coffee maker ready for tomorrow while Sass got everyone’s clothes laid out. I realized while Mr. Steady and I were working on dinner and chatting that the girls had behaved very well today and I didn’t even pay attention- I was too absorbed and upset by Mr. Conductor’s bad behavior. Shame on me. I vow to pay better attention tomorrow. We shall see . . . . Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 544 of 1465 } { Next Page } |
