Yummy RecipeYesterday evening, Sassafras, Maiden and I made this yummy monkey bread for dessert (instead of brownie pudding). Mr. Steady’s parents were coming for supper again and we wanted a yummy dessert that wasn’t off the charts for Grampa’s health. The bread is very, very easy to make and I like using the cinnamon rolls instead of biscuits (like in my other monkey bread recipe) as it makes a sweeter bread (and the icing is especially nice and decorative too!)
Orange-Cinnamon Monkey Bread ½ cup packed brown sugar 1 Tbsp freshly grated orange peel 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls Directions: Heat over to 357 degrees. Coat a 10-cup bundt pan with non stick spray. Mix sugar and orange peel in a small bowl. Open cans of rolls; set aside icing. Cut each roll into quarters and dip in sugar mixture, then arrange evenly in pan. Press down gently. Bake 35 minutes until almost doubled in volume and lightly browned. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 2 minutes. Invert serving plate on pan. With oven mitts, hold plate and pan together and invert. Remove pan. Let bread cool 5 minutes. Drizzle with icing (or put icing in plastic bag, snip end and pipe onto bread). Serve warm, pulling off pieces. I think this would be a good breakfast cake or a beautiful addition to a brunch. You could sprinkle a bit more grated orange peel on top to add to the presentation. I believe I may make this the next time I am up for bringing something for our MOPS group.
