Our wonderful neighbor, friend and computer guru was able to fix the lap top. He looked at me and said, "You're lucky." My reply, "Nope. I'm blessed." Yep, I'm blessed. It may seem trival or silly-- we prayed about this. It greatly concerned Mr. Conductor that he had done something to the laptop and he really wanted our friend to be able to fix it. So I told Mr. Conductor we needed to pray about it. And we did. And he did. There is no prayer more beautiful to me than the ones prayed personally from my children. Mr. Conductor is not quite 3 yrs and it was amazing to hear this little man pray so simply and from the heart. So we know we are not lucky- we are blessed. Immensely blessed. When I shared what happened with Mr. Steady we then began to tick off all the blessings God has given us just this past week. How He has answered when we've called- big blessings, small blessings, serious blessings and silly blessings. Many, Many Blessings. Yes we still struggle and yes, we have prayer requests that continue to go "unanswered" (more like "wait") but we continue to remain faithful to the Lord who so loves us. I glory in His Name. Thank you Lord. Thank you.
What a great story.
I just saw something on CNN that I thought I would add in this comment. The parents of Sean Hornbeck (the boy kidnapped for 4 years) had apparently been on the Montel Show to talk to psychic Sylvia Brown. She had told them that their son was taken by a hispanic man with dreadlocks and that he was dead. This TV show took place several years ago. Now, of course, everyone knows Sylvia was totally wrong. I think she is considered a very famous psychic.
So the question I have is this. When reading the Old Testament, and the prophecies there, weren't they like psychics of their time? How are we to know today who is a prophet of God and who is just an entertainment psychic on TV? Are there any true prophets of God today?
A while ago Pat Robertson (I don't know what he stands for, I think of him as a TV preacher) prophesized that there would be a terrorist attack on US soil with a huge death toll in 2007, but after Sept. 2007. Is he a wanna-be prophet? What does the Bible say about modern day prophets?
Wow Lynne! You ask some hard questions! :o)
I'll have to do a bit of digging before I answer this one but I will say that the bible mentions psychics/witches and of course, false prophets. And how good would a false prophet be if he wasn't right some of the time? I mean he's got to have something going for him in order to draw people in and keep them interested.
I am a bit of a skeptic and some of these "modern day prophets", well, I don't buy what they're selling. The Lord warned us to be discerning in who we listen to- that there will be many who will do powerful things but they will be false- their power will not be from the Lord.
I will try to find the time to look up some specific scripture to share with you but truly we must filter all that we see and hear thru God. Ask Him if this is right or if the person is speaking truth.
Hope to get back ot you soon.

Amy, I realize you are super busy. The modern day prophet question is one I have thought of before. Many years ago, a friend and I would go to a local psychic once a year. It was more of an entertainment thing for us. We would compare our "readings." Then, I quit because I just had the feeling that this wasn't right for me. I wanted to put my future in God's hands and not even be tempted to rely on someone else in God's place. But then I have thought, maybe God will send a true prophet to the world. How will we know?
Maybe it will be clear to us if it happens. Maybe it will be like how I feel that Billy Graham is a true messenger of God and a sincere, honest person. I just wasn't sure if from a Biblical perspective all prophesies have been fulfilled and no more are needed as Christ has already come. But, please, don't do hours of work researching this. If you come across anything in your other studies over the next several months, maybe you will journal about it.
I am home from work this morning and VERY happy because I had my first physical in 14 years (really bad, I know) and my results were excellent. Whew!
Lynne- I enjoy your questions and find it helps me to dig deeper and learn more. So keep bringing them! I have to say WOW about seeing a psychic and also that I am quite glad you felt lead to stop going.
As for the physical- I'm wagging my finger at you- for shame, for shame, but also saying a prayer of praise that everything is fine!
I agree that Billy Graham is a sincere man of God but I find that many others are in a very grey area. I am very leary of TV preachers or even other preachers that tend to make a lot of [personal] money from their ministries.
That's why I think everything must be tempered by prayer. If we just aren't sure- who better to ask than the Lord? :o)
As a teacher/leader in the church I am VERY aware of the verse in scripture where Paul tells us we will be held accountable to a higher level than others for what we have preached/taught and how we have led others. I pray that I say no more or no less than God leads (even including this blog!). :o)
Again- I really enjoy the questions and the discussion we get from them!
Have a wonderful day.

My Husband (DH)-
Mr. Steady
My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.
DD11- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.
DD8- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added spice of flavor to our family.
DS4- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He likes to think he's in charge and often is! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
