God cares for usToday I was once again reminded of how God takes care of us even more than we know. The children and I had a day of shopping planned- Aldi's then to a dollar store for their gift purchases. We normally never leave the house at the time I desire to- I like to get up, eat and get on the road. Usually we are about an half hour later than I plan- always. But not today. Today we left the house exactly as we planned. I was so pleased that everything seemed to go so smoothly this morning- just amazed really. I took my time admiring the scenery and thinking Christmasy thoughts as we traveled to Aldi's. I remember looking out my window at a beautiful farm selling Christmas trees and then an open field where a man was standing next to a backhoe looking down at a trench he was obviously digging. It just seemed like a normal day. We flew thru our shopping at Aldi's-- as we were walking out there was suddenly a loud noise- like a jet airplane flying real low- the sound kept going and going. The kids and I looked and looked expecting to see a low-flying airplane. The sound continued but no plane. The sound went on for more than 5 minutes. Shrugging our shoulders at how odd it was we continued on to the dollar store. On the way home we noticed a local TV station's camera crew at the side of the road, then a local newspaper's and then in the field where I had seen the man and the backhoe were 2 fire trucks and approx. 5 trucks from a gas/propane company then a couple more camera crews from 2 other stations. We had no idea what had happened- just a lot of cars and people standing around. Upon returning home I had a message on my answering machine from my husband asking me to check in with him as there was an gas line explosion just outside of Union on U S 12- the route he knew we were traveling today. One man was killed and I believe it was probably the man I saw with the backhoe earlier. That sound we heard- like a jet engine- was the explosion. They evacuted a 2 mile radius also. We are very sad for the young man who lost his life and we also thank the Lord for his provisional watch care over us. We would have been right in that area at that time if things had gone the way they usually go. I know it was the Lord making things run so smoothly this morning. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt he took care of us in ways we weren't even aware of. We serve an incredible Lord and Savior. I do not know why this had to happen, why a man lost his life but I do know the Lord continued to provide and protect. He has once again reminded me that He is in control of not only my life but the lives of my family- my children. Please lift up the friends and family of the man who lost his life. We will be.
