A view of a special day

Here is Maiden on the morning of her 10th birthday in all her lovely bedhead glory. I snuck in her room while she was sleeping the night before (11 pm) and decorated with streamers and balloons and a homemade birthday sign taped to her dresser. The floor was full of balloons. She was so surprised! What fun!
The night before when she went to bed she found a paper doorhanger attatched to her jammie drawer knob just like you find at hotels. It had a list of breakfast items and she was to check off the items she wanted for breakfast. (I made sure the list only had foods we had on hand!)
This was a lovely way to start her day! Here she is eating her birthday breakfast: Baked Oatmeal Cake, eggs over easy, bacon, toast and orange juice.

It was all served on our special birthday plate with the juice in her special violets tea cup. She is wearing the new outfit we got her as well as the beautiful necklace I knitted for her.
Here She is with her birthday cake- a family effort. Mama baked the double layer chocolate devil's food cake, Daddy tinted the frosting and frosted the lovely cake and Maiden added the sprinkles. Daddy usually does the whole shebang himself but he needed our help as he was pressed for time.

I loved your birthday ideas. They sounded quite fun, I especially liked the menu for breakfast on her door to choose from. I've done the balloons on the floor as well... that is fun! My daughter also had a birthday on the 13th... you were much busier than I... I was out shopping! But then she is 15yo, and that IS what her birthday is about, or so she thinks... she loves shopping!
