Playing Hooky
Today we are taking the day off from regular schooling (as if I could ever call it that) in honor of Maiden's 10th birthday.We are starting out with a lovely homemade breakfast- requested by Maiden and then it is off to a local free museum to spend the day (and yes I am counting it as a school field trip- there are electronic gizmos and historical "stuff" and even a couple of mummies!).
She picked Fazoli's for lunch- and none of us are complaining about that! Yum.
Then a quiet short afternoon at home with all her new gifts before her family party tonight.
We are inviting some of the family over for dinner and cake and ice cream. She is so excited. She lost a molar yesterday and announced she was naming it her birthday tooth.
Goodness that girl makes me laugh.
Mr. Steady is home. He never ever works on a birthday here! We have some other wonderful little surprises in store for Maiden today. Hope to have pictures to share later.

My Husband (DH)-Mr. Steady
My rock and biggest supporter. The glue that keeps the family sane. He is like deep, deep water- it takes a lot to see a ripple.
DD12- Our Maiden in Waiting- By the world's standard she's a 'tween'. By ours and the Lord's- this is the time of her years of preparation. She is eagerly learning what it means to keep a home and daily becomes more and more of a helper to her Mama.
DD9- Sassafras My Sassy middle child. She holds her own so sweetly and has such an empathetic heart. While real Sassafras is used for flavoring- She is that added sweet flavor to our family.
DS5- Mr. Conductor- The train aficionado in the family. He's the little man and best helper around! He's also the biggest Oreo fiend in the family.
