Our St. Nicholas Day Giving

After a bumpy morning we had an absolutely lovely St. Nicholas Day. Thanks to the wonderful site- St Nicholas Center we were able to find oodles of information and much more for our celebration (perfect coloring pages there!).
The girls totally got into the act of culling the toys. To be honest my girls really don’t play with toys much persay (except for their little brother’s stuff). Then we cleaned and primped and grouped as needed and ultimately took 3 boxes and a brown grocery sack of toys to the local Free Store. My Little Ponies galore and some play dishes, assorted small toys sets,a couple of dolls and one box full of baby toys. Each child proudly carried a box into the store. Oh they were so happy to give and I was just so tickled with them (and with the “stuff” we were removing!) The ladies at the store oohed and ahhed and thanked my children for their generosity. Maiden shared a bit about St. Nicholas why we chose Dec. 6^th to bring our goodies. It was a wonderful moment.
In fact- I believe we will be going back next week with boots, snowpants and coats as well as a few outgrown fancy Christmas dresses. The kids want to give more because according to Maiden, “One- we don’t need it anymore and Two we can help give Christmas to others.” Bingo!
And so my afternoon was much more better (as Sassafras would say) than my morning. Thank you Lord.
